2 Chronicles 18:1-34

The Second Book of Chronicles

18 Je·hosh′a·phat get plenty money and people de respect-am well-well, but e make marriage agreement with A′hab. 2 Some years after, e go meet A′hab for Sa·mar′i·a, and A′hab sacrifice plenty-plenty sheep and cow for-am and the people wey dey with-am and e beg-am well-well say make e go up go fight for Ra′moth-gil′e·ad. 3 Then A′hab wey be king of Israel ask Je·hosh′a·phat wey be king of Judah say: “You go follow me go Ra′moth-gil′e·ad?” E answer-am say: “Me and you na the same, my people and your people na the same, and we go support you for the war.”

4 But Je·hosh′a·phat tell the king of Israel say: “Abeg, first ask to hear wetin Jehovah go talk.” 5 So the king of Israel gather the prophets together, them be 400 men, and e ask them say: “Make I go fight war for Ra′moth-gil′e·ad, or make I no go?” Them talk say: “Make you go up and the true God go put-am for the king hand.”

6 Je·hosh′a·phat come talk say: “Jehovah prophet no dey here? Make we ask-am too.” 7 So the king of Israel tell Je·hosh′a·phat say: “One man still dey wey fit help us ask Jehovah but I hate-am because e no de ever talk say good things go happen to me, na only bad things e de always talk. Im name na Mi·cai′ah wey be the son of Im′lah.” But Je·hosh′a·phat talk say: “Make the king no talk that kind thing.”

8 So the king of Israel call one of im servant wey get high position and talk say: “Bring Mi·cai′ah the son of Im′lah come quick-quick.” 9 Now, the king of Israel and Je·hosh′a·phat wey be the king of Judah sitdown for their throne, them wear king cloth and them sitdown for the place wey them de separate grain from plant, wey dey the place wey them de pass enter the gate of Sa·mar′i·a, and all the prophets dey their front de talk wetin go happen for future. 10 Then Zed·e·ki′ah wey be the son of Che·na′a·nah do iron horns for imself and talk say: “This na wetin Jehovah talk, ‘Na this horns you go use chuk Syria people until you go kill them finish.’” 11 Na the same thing all the other prophets de talk say go happen, them say: “Go up go Ra′moth-gil′e·ad and you go succeed. Jehovah go put-am for the king hand.”

12 So the messenger wey go call Mi·cai′ah tell-am say: “See! All the prophets tell the king better thing, abeg make wetin you go talk be like their own. Talk better thing.” 13 But Mi·cai′ah talk say: “As Jehovah dey alive, na anything wey my God talk na im I go talk.” 14 Then e come meet the king and the king ask-am say: “Mi·cai′ah, make we go fight war with Ra′moth-gil′e·ad, or make I no go?” Quick-quick, e answer-am say: “Go up and you go succeed; them go put them for your hand.” 15 So the king tell-am say: “How many times I go make you swear say na only wetin be true you go use Jehovah name tell me?” 16 So e talk say: “I de see all Israel people wey scatter ontop mountains like sheep wey no get shepherd. Jehovah talk say: ‘This people no get oga. Make each of them sofri go back go im house.’”

17 Then the king of Israel tell Je·hosh′a·phat say: “I no tell you say, ‘E no go prophesy good things about me, say na only bad things’?”

18 Then Mi·cai′ah talk say: “So make you hear wetin Jehovah talk: I see Jehovah wey sitdown for im throne and all the angels for the heavens* stand for im right side and for im left side. 19 Then Jehovah talk say, ‘Who go deceive A′hab wey be king of Israel, so that e go go Ra′moth-gil′e·ad and die for there?’ One angel de talk one thing, another one de talk another thing. 20 Then one spirit* come out and stand for Jehovah front and talk say, ‘I go deceive-am.’ Jehovah come ask-am say, ‘How you go do-am?’ 21 E answer-am say, ‘I go comot and become lie-lie spirit for the mouth of all im prophets.’ So e talk say, ‘You go deceive-am and true-true, you go succeed. Go do as you talk.’ 22 So now Jehovah don allow one spirit to make this your prophets talk lie-lie things, but the truth be say Jehovah don talk say you go face serious trouble.”

23 Then Zed·e·ki′ah wey be the son of Che·na′a·nah waka near Mi·cai′ah and slap im face and talk say: “How Jehovah spirit take leave me come talk to you?” 24 Mi·cai′ah answer-am say: “See! You go know how e do-am for the day when you go enter the room wey dey inside-inside go hide.” 25 Then the king of Israel talk say: “Make una hold Mi·cai′ah and carry-am give A′mon wey be the chief of the city and Jo′ash wey be the king son. 26 Tell them say, ‘This na wetin the king talk, “Make una put this man for prison and make una de give-am small bread and water until I come back in peace.”’” 27 But Mi·cai′ah talk say: “If you come back in peace, e mean say Jehovah no talk to me.” E still talk say: “Make all of una put this thing for mind.”

28 So the king of Israel and Je·hosh′a·phat the king of Judah go up go Ra′moth-gil′e·ad. 29 The king of Israel come tell Je·hosh′a·phat say: “I go change my cloth make them no know say na me, and I go join the war, but make you wear your king cloth.” So the king of Israel change im cloth and join the war. 30 The king of Syria be don command the chariot commanders say: “Make una no fight anybody whether e small or e big, only the king of Israel.” 31 And as the chariot commanders just see Je·hosh′a·phat, them tell theirself say: “Na the king of Israel be this.” So them turn face-am to fight-am, Je·hosh′a·phat come start to cry for help, and Jehovah help-am, quick-quick God make the people leave-am. 32 When the chariot commanders see say no be the king of Israel be that, quick-quick, them stop to pursue-am.

33 But one man just shoot im arrow go any direction, and the arrow chuk the king of Israel for the place wey them join the coat wey e wear to protect im chest. So the king tell the person wey de ride im chariot say: “Turn make you carry me comot from the war,* because them don wound me well-well.” 34 The war strong well-well for the whole of that day. Them hold the king of Israel to stand as e dey inside the chariot and e face Syria people until evening reach; e come die for evening.
