Im wife get sense and e fine, but the husband, wey come from Ca′leb family, dey harsh and e no de behave well. 4 As David dey the wilderness, e come hear say Na′bal de comot hair from im sheep body. 5 So David send ten young men make them go meet-am, and e tell the young men say: “Make una go Car′mel, and when una meet Na′bal, make una tell-am say I de ask about-am. 6 Then make una tell-am say, ‘Make you live long and make e better for you,* make e better for your family too and make everything wey you get do well. 7 Now, I don hear say you de comot hair from your sheep body. When the people wey de take care of your sheep dey with us, we no do them bad, and e no get any of their thing wey miss the whole time wey them dey for Car′mel. 8 Make you ask your servants, and them go tell you. Make you treat the young men wey I send well, because this time wey we come, na enjoyment time.* Abeg, make you give your servants and your son David anything wey you go fit give.’”
9 So the young men wey David send, go meet Na′bal and use David name tell-am all this things. When them don talk finish, 10 Na′bal answer David servants say: “Who David be, and who the son of Jes′se be? Nowadays, servants wey de run comot from their oga don plenty. 11 So una want make I carry my bread, my water, and the meat wey I butcher for the people wey de comot hair from my sheep body, carry give una, people wey I no know where them come from?”
12 So the young men wey David send go back go tell-am everything wey Na′bal talk. 13 Quick-quick, David tell im men say: “Make everybody carry im sword!” So all of them tie their sword for waist, and David tie im own sword for waist too. Na about 400 men follow David go, but 200 men stay to take care of their load.
14 As this one de happen, one of the servants go tell Ab′i·gail wey be Na′bal wife say: “See! David send some people from wilderness come greet our oga, but e just de shout de insult them. 15 Those men treat us well no be small. Them no do us any bad, and we no lost one single thing all the time wey we dey together with them for the bush. 16 The whole time wey we dey with them, de take care of the sheep, them be like fence wey surround us de protect us, whether for night or for daytime. 17 Now, make you decide wetin you go do, because serious problem de come meet our oga and everybody for im house, and nobody fit even talk to-am because na useless man e be.”
18 So quick-quick, Ab′i·gail carry 200 loaves of bread, two big container of wine, five sheep wey them don kill, five seah measures* of wheat* wey them roast, 100 cakes wey them use raisin make, and 200 cakes wey them make with dry figs,* e come pack all of them put ontop donkeys. 19 Then Ab′i·gail tell im servants say: “Make una first me de go, I go follow una.” But e no tell im husband Na′bal anything.
20 As Ab′i·gail de ride the donkey go down, the mountain block-am, so David and im men no see-am as them de come down from the other side de go im side. Then Ab′i·gail meet them. 21 That time, David be de tell imself say: “So na for nothing I protect everything wey this man get for wilderness. One single thing wey e get no miss, and now, na bad e use de pay me for my good. 22 Make God punish the enemies of David and even do pass that one* if I allow one single man* for im house survive reach morning.”
23 As Ab′i·gail just see David, e come down quick-quick from the donkey, kneel down face ground and bow im head for David front. 24 Then e kneel down near David leg and talk say: “My lord, na me get the blame for wetin happen, abeg, make your servant girl talk to you, and listen to wetin your servant girl want talk. 25 Abeg my lord, no mind this yeye Na′bal, because as im name be na so e be. Na′bal* na im name, and e no just get sense at all. But me, your servant girl no see the young men wey my lord send come. 26 And now, my lord, as Jehovah dey alive and as you dey alive,* na Jehovah hold you so that you no go do something wey go make person blood dey your head, and so that you no go use your own hand do person back.* Make your enemies and those people wey want make bad thing happen to my lord be like Na′bal. 27 Abeg, make them give this gift* wey your servant girl bring for my lord to the young men wey de follow my lord. 28 Abeg, forgive your servant girl for the bad thing wey e do, because Jehovah go surely make your pikin them rule as king for long time,* because my lord de fight the wars of Jehovah, and them never see say you put hand for any bad thing all your life. 29 When person stand up to pursue you, and want take your life,* Jehovah your God go wrap the life* of my lord tight for the bag of life, but e go fling the life of your enemies* comot like stone wey them fling comot from inside sling.* 30 And when Jehovah don do all the good things wey e promise my lord, and e don make you leader for Israel, 31 you no go regret* and e no go pain you for mind say you don kill person for nothing and say my lord don use im own hand do person back.* My lord, when Jehovah don bless you, make you remember your servant girl.”
32 So David tell Ab′i·gail say: “Make Jehovah the God of Israel wey send you to come meet me today get the praise! 33 And make e bless you because you don show say you get sense! Make e still bless you because you don make me no do wetin go make person blood dey my head, and make me no use my own hand do person back.* 34 If not, as Jehovah the God of Israel wey make me no do you bad dey alive, if to say you no come meet me quick-quick, no single man* for Na′bal house for survive reach morning.” 35 So David collect wetin Ab′i·gail bring come for-am, and e tell-am say: “Make you no worry, go your house. See, I don hear you, I go do wetin you talk.”
36 Later, Ab′i·gail go back go meet Na′bal. That time, Na′bal de chop like king for im house. E* de happy and e don dey drunk. Ab′i·gail no tell-am anything until day break. 37 For morning, when drink don clear from Na′bal eye, im wife tell-am this things wey happen, then im heart come be like dead person own, and e just lie down like stone, e no fit move im body. 38 After about ten days, Jehovah strike Na′bal, and e die.
39 When David hear say Na′bal don die, e talk say: “Praise Jehovah, wey handle my case for me after Na′bal don use me do yeye, and e don make im servant no go do bad thing. Jehovah don make Na′bal use im own head carry the bad thing wey e do!” Then, David send people to go tell Ab′i·gail say e want marry-am. 40 So the servants of David come meet Ab′i·gail for Car′mel and tell-am say: “David don send us say make we come carry you as im wife.” 41 Quick-quick, Ab′i·gail stand up and bow down face ground, and talk say: “See your slave, I don ready to be servant wey go de wash the leg of the servants of my lord.” 42 Then quick-quick, Ab′i·gail stand up, climb im donkey, and five of im women servants de follow-am for back. Na so e take follow the people wey David send, and come be David wife.
