Exodus

20 Then God talk all this things say:

2 “I be Jehovah your God wey bring you come out from the land of Egypt, from the place wey you be dey as slave.* 3 Make you no ever get any other gods except me.*

4 “Make you no ever carve image for yourself or something wey be like* anything wey dey the heaven for up, or for the earth for down, or for inside the water under the earth. 5 Make you no ever bow down to them or allow anything draw you to worship them, because me, Jehovah your God, I be God wey want make person worship only me. I de allow the children, the grandchildren,* and the great-grandchildren* to face the punishment for the sins of their papa them wey hate me, 6 but I de show love wey no de fail to thousands of generations of the people wey love me and de obey my commandments.

7 “Make you no ever use the name of Jehovah your God for way wey no show respect, because Jehovah no go fail to punish the person wey de use Im name for way wey no show respect.

8 “Remember to keep the Sabbath day holy. 9 You go work and do all your work for six days, 10 but the seventh day na sabbath for Jehovah your God. Make you no ever do any work, whether you, your son, your daughter, your man slave, your slave girl, the animal wey fit live with people wey you get, or the stranger wey de live for the land inside your villages.* 11 Because for six days Jehovah make the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything wey dey inside them, and e start to rest for the seventh day. Na because of this one Jehovah bless the Sabbath day and make-am dey holy.

12 “Honor your papa and your mama, so that you go fit live long for the land wey Jehovah your God de give you.

13 “Make you no ever kill person.

14 “Make you no ever sleep with person wey no be your husband or wife.

15 “Make you no ever thief.

16 “Make you no ever lie against your neighbor when them call you to talk about matter wey concern-am.

17 “Make e no ever hungry you to collect your neighbor house. Make e no ever hungry you to collect your neighbor wife or im man slave or im slave girl or im bull or im donkey or anything wey be your neighbor own.”

18 Now all the people de hear the thunder and de see the thunder light, them de hear the sound of the horn, and de see the smoke from the mountain; and as them de see and hear this things, e make them fear and them stand for far place. 19 So them tell Moses say: “Make you talk with us, and we go listen, but no let God talk with us, because we de fear say we go die.” 20 So Moses tell the people say: “Make una no fear, because the true God don come to test una, so that una go continue to fear-am and this one go make una no sin.” 21 So the people continue to stand far, but Moses go near the dark cloud where the true God dey.

22 Then Jehovah tell Moses say: “This one na wetin you go tell Israel people, ‘Una don see say I talk with una from heaven. 23 Make una no ever use silver to make gods and worship them together with me, and make una no ever use gold make gods for unaself. 24 Make altar from the ground for me, and ontop-am you go do your sacrifice of offerings wey them de burn, your peace sacrifice them, sacrifice from your sheep and from your cows. For every place wey I choose make them remember my name, I go come meet you and I go bless you. 25 If you make altar from stones for me, make you no build-am with stones wey them cut with tools. Because if you use your chisel cut-am, you go make-am no dey holy. 26 And make you no ever use steps go up for my altar, so that your private parts* no go show ontop-am.’
