13 For the 18th year of King Jer·o·bo′am, A·bi′jah start to rule Judah as king. 2 Na three years e rule for Jerusalem. Im mama name na Mi·cai′ah wey be the daughter of U·ri′el wey come from Gib′e·ah. That time, war dey between A·bi′jah and Jer·o·bo′am.
3 So A·bi′jah carry 400,000 strong soldiers wey them don train* go fight war. And Jer·o·bo′am arrange imself to go fight-am with 800,000 men wey them don train,* wey be strong soldiers. 4 Now, A·bi′jah stand for Mount Zem·a·ra′im, wey dey the area wey mountains dey for E′phra·im, and e talk say: “Jer·o·bo′am and all Israel people, make una hear wetin I want talk. 5 Una no know say Jehovah the God of Israel use agreement of salt* give David and im sons kingdom to rule Israel forever? 6 But Jer·o·bo′am the son of Ne′bat, wey be the servant of David son Sol′o·mon, stand up and turn against im lord. 7 And useless men wey no get work continue to go meet-am, and them come get power pass Re·ho·bo′am the son of Sol′o·mon as e be say Re·ho·bo′am still dey young and im heart never strong and e no fit stand against them.
8 “Now, una think say una fit stand against the kingdom of Jehovah wey dey the hand of the sons of David because una plenty well-well and una get the small cows wey Jer·o·bo′am use gold make as gods for una. 9 Una no pursue Jehovah priests comot, wey be the children-children of Aaron, and the Levites, and una no choose una own priests just like people of the other lands de do? Anybody wey bring* one young bull and seven rams fit be priest of wetin no be gods. 10 As for us, Jehovah na our God, and we no leave-am; our priests wey be the children-children of Aaron, de work for Jehovah, and the Levites de help them for the work. 11 Them de do offerings wey them de burn and smoke de go to Jehovah every morning and every evening, with perfume incense, and the layer bread* dey ontop table wey them use pure gold make, and them de light the lamps wey dey ontop the gold lampstand every evening, because we de do our work for Jehovah our God; but una don leave-am. 12 Now see! the true God dey with us, e de lead us with im priests and the trumpets wey them go use to give us sign say make we fight against una. O men of Israel, make una no fight against Jehovah the God of una papa-papa them, because una no go succeed.”
13 But Jer·o·bo′am send people to hide go attack Judah people from back, so them come dey for front of Judah people and the ones wey hide dey for their back. 14 So when Judah people turn, them see say them need to fight the war for their front and for their back. So them start to cry to Jehovah as the priests de blow the trumpets make e loud. 15 The men of Judah start to shout war cry, and when the men of Judah start to shout war cry, the true God win Jer·o·bo′am and all Israel people for front of A·bi′jah and Judah. 16 Israel people run from Judah people and God put Israel people for their hand. 17 A·bi′jah and im people kill plenty of them, and them continue to kill Israel people sotey them kill reach 500,000 men wey them don train.* 18 Na so them take disgrace the men of Israel that time, but the men of Judah strong pass them because them trust Jehovah the God of their papa-papa them. 19 A·bi′jah continue to pursue Jer·o·bo′am and collect this cities from-am: Beth′el and the towns wey surround-am, Jesh′a·nah and the towns wey surround-am, E′phra·in and the towns wey surround-am. 20 And Jer·o·bo′am no ever get im power back for the time of A·bi′jah; then Jehovah kill-am and e die.
21 But A·bi′jah continue to get power more-more. As time de go, e marry 14 wives, and e born 22 sons and 16 daughters. 22 And the other story about A·bi′jah, the things wey e do and wetin e talk, them write-am among the things wey prophet Id′do write.
