The Second of Kings
4 Now one of the wives of the sons of the prophets cry go meet E·li′sha and talk say: “My husband wey be your servant don die, and you really know say your servant na person wey be de always fear Jehovah. Collect plenty as you fit. 4 Then make you and your sons go inside and close the door. Put oil inside all this containers, and carry the ones wey don full keep for one side.” 5 So the woman comot.
When the woman and im sons enter inside house and close the door, them come de carry the containers de give-am, and e just de pour oil inside them. 6 When the containers don full, e tell one of im sons say: “Bring another container for me.” But the son tell-am say: “The containers don finish.” As e talk like that, the oil stop. 7 So e come inside and tell the man of the true God, and the man talk say: “Go sell the oil and pay the money wey you de owe, then make you and your sons use the remaining one care for unaself.”
8 One day, E·li′sha go Shu′nem, the place wey one woman wey people know well-well dey, and e beg E·li′sha say make e chop for there. Anytime wey E·li′sha pass that place, e go stop for there to chop. 9 So the woman tell im husband say: “I know say this man wey de come this side every time na holy man of God. 10 Abeg, make we arrange one small room for the roof and put bed, table, chair, and lampstand for there for-am, then anytime wey e come visit us, e go stay there.”
11 One day e come there and e enter the room wey dey the roof to lie down. 12 Then e tell Ge·ha′zi wey be im servant say: “Call this Shu′nem woman come.” So e call the woman and e come stand for im front. 13 Then e tell Ge·ha′zi say: “Abeg tell the woman say, ‘See you don suffer do all this things for us. Wetin I fit do for you? Make I help you talk to the king or to the person wey de control the army?’” But the woman talk say: “No, I de stay with my own people.” 14 So E·li′sha ask say: “Then wetin we fit do for the woman?” Ge·ha′zi come answer-am say: “Well, the woman no get son and im husband don old.” 15 Quick-quick, E·li′sha talk say: “Call the woman come.” So e call-am and e come stand for the domot. 16 Then E·li′sha talk say: “For this time next year, you go carry pikin wey be boy.” But the woman talk say: “No, my oga, you be man of the true God! Make you no lie give your servant.”
17 The woman come get belle and born pikin wey be boy for the same time for the next year, just as E·li′sha be don promise-am. 18 The pikin come big. One day, e go meet im papa, and that time, im papa dey with the people wey de harvest their things. 19 Then the pikin come de tell im papa say: “My head de pain me, my head!” Then im papa tell the servant say: “Carry-am go give im mama.” 20 So e carry-am go meet im mama and the pikin sitdown for im mama lap until afternoon, then e die. 21 Then the woman go up and carry the pikin put for the bed of the man of the true God. E come close the door and comot. 22 Then e call im husband and talk say: “Abeg, send one of the servants and one of the donkeys to me, make I quick-quick go meet the man of the true God and come back.” 23 But the husband ask say: “Why you de go see-am today? Today no be new moon festival and no be sabbath day.” But the woman talk say: “Everything dey okay.” 24 So the woman ready the donkey and tell im servants say: “Make you move quick-quick. Make you no slow down because of me, unless I tell you say make you slow down.”
25 So e go meet the man of the true God for Mount Car′mel. As the man of the true God just see-am from far, e tell Ge·ha′zi im servant say: “See the Shu′nem woman for there! 26 Abeg run go meet-am and ask-am say, ‘You dey okay? 32 When E·li′sha enter the house, the boy dey ontop im bed and e don die. 33 E enter and close the door as only two of them dey, e come start to pray to Jehovah. 34 Then e climb the bed and lie down ontop the pikin. E put im own mouth for the pikin mouth. E put im own eyes for the pikin eyes, and e put im own palms for the pikin palms, and e just dey ontop-am like that. The pikin body come de warm small-small. 35 E·li′sha come de waka up and down for the house, e come climb the bed and lie down ontop the pikin again. The boy come sneeze seven times, then e open im eyes. 36 Now, E·li′sha call Ge·ha′zi and talk say: “Call the Shu′nem woman come.” So Ge·ha′zi call the woman and e come inside come meet-am. Then e talk say: “Carry your pikin.” 37 So the woman come inside, kneel down for ground near E·li′sha leg, and bow down face ground for im front. After that one, e carry im pikin comot.
38 When E·li′sha go back to Gil′gal, serious hunger dey the land. The sons of the prophets sitdown for im front, and e tell im servant say: “Put the big pot for fire and cook stew for the sons of the prophets.” 39 So one of them enter bush to cut one leaf wey them de call mallow, and e see one bush plant wey get round-round fruits. E pick the fruits full im cloth, then e go back and cut them put for the pot of stew, but e no know wetin them be. 40 After, them carry the stew give the men say make them chop, but as them just chop from the stew, them shout and talk say: “Death dey inside the pot, O man of the true God.” Them no fit chop the stew. 41 So e talk say: “Make una bring some flour.” After e throw the flour inside the pot, e come talk say: “Give the people the stew make them chop.” Nothing come dey inside the pot again wey fit affect person.
42 One man come from Ba′al-shal′i·shah, and e bring 20 loaves of barley bread wey them make with the first ripe fruits come give the man of the true God. E still give-am one bag of fresh grain. Then E·li′sha talk say: “Carry-am give the people make them chop.” 43 But im servants talk say: “How I go carry this small food give 100 men?” When e talk this one, E·li′sha talk say: “Carry-am give the people make them chop because this na wetin Jehovah talk, ‘Them go chop and some go still remain.’” 44 So e carry-am give them and them chop and some remain, as Jehovah don talk-am.
