14 Then Samson go down to Timʹnah, and e see one Phi·lisʹti·a woman* for Timʹnah. 2 So e go up and e tell im papa and mama say: “For Timʹnah, I see one Phi·lisʹti·a woman wey enter my eye, and I want make una make arrangement for me so that I go marry-am.” 3 But im papa and mama ask-am say: “You no fit find woman among your family people and among all our people? Why you go go marry wife from among Phi·lisʹti·a people wey no circumcise?” But Samson tell im papa say: “Make arrangement for me, because na this woman be the correct person for me.”* 4 Im papa and mama no know say this one na from Jehovah, because E de look for chance to fight against Phi·lisʹti·a people, since Phi·lisʹti·a people be de rule Israel that time.
5 So Samson go down to Timʹnah with im papa and mama. When e reach the vine farms of Timʹnah, see! one lion* de make loud noise to come attack-am. 6 Then Jehovah spirit give-am power, and e tear the lion into two, just as person de tear young goat into two with im ordinary hand. But e no tell im papa or mama wetin e do. 7 Then e go down go talk to the woman, and na the woman still be the correct person for Samson eye.
8 After, when e de go back to carry the woman go house, e turn to look the dead body of the lion, and e see say plenty bees and honey dey the dead body of the lion. 9 So e scrape the honey put for im hand and chop-am as e de waka de go. When e meet im papa and mama again, e give them some honey make them chop. But e no tell them say e scrape the honey from the dead body of lion.
10 Im papa go down go meet the woman, and Samson do party for there, because na so the young men de do that time. 11 When them see-am, them bring 30 young men* to follow-am. 12 Then Samson tell them say: “Abeg make I tell una one proverb. If for the seven days of the party, una fit find the answer and tell me, I go give una 30 linen cloths and 30 different-different cloths. 13 But if una no fit tell me the answer, una must give me 30 linen cloths and 30 different-different cloths.” Them talk say: “Tell us your proverb; we want hear-am.” 14 So e tell them say:
“Something wey them fit chop come out from wetin de chop something,
And something wey sweet come out from something wey strong.”
Them no fit get the answer of the proverb for three days. 15 For the fourth day, them tell Samson wife say: “Deceive your husband so that e go tell us the answer of the proverb. If you no do-am, we go burn you and your papa family people* with fire. You invite us come here to collect our property?” 16 So Samson wife continue to cry for im head and talk say: “E clear say you hate me; you no love me. Na you I go tell?” 17 But e continue to cry for im head for the rest of the seven days party. At last e tell-am for the seventh day, because e don too worry-am. Then the woman tell im people the answer of the proverb. 18 So for the seventh day before sun go down,* the men of the city tell-am say:
“Wetin sweet pass honey,
And wetin strong pass lion?”
E answer them say:
“If to say una no take my young cow work for una farm,
Una for no get the answer of my proverb.”
19 Then Jehovah spirit give-am power, and e go down to Ashʹke·lon and kill 30 men for there and collect their cloths and give the different-different cloths to the people wey answer the proverb. E really vex as e de go back to im papa house.
20 Then them give Samson wife to one of the young men* wey follow-am.
