Exodus
16 After them comot from E′lim, at last all Israel people come reach the wilderness of Sin, wey dey between E′lim and Si′nai, for the 15th day of the second month, after them comot from the land of Egypt.
2 Then all Israel people start to complain against Moses and Aaron for the wilderness. 3 Israel people continue to tell them say: “E for better say Jehovah use im hand kill us for the land of Egypt, when we de sitdown near pots of meat, when we de chop food* belleful. Now una don bring us come this wilderness to kill all the people* with hunger.”
4 Then Jehovah tell Moses say: “See, I go make food* pour come down from the heavens like rain for una, and make each person go de gather wetin e need for each day, so that I fit test them to see whether them go follow my law or them no go follow-am. 5 But for the sixth day when them prepare wetin them don gather, make e be times two of the amount wey them gather for each of the other days.”
6 So Moses and Aaron tell all Israel people say: “For evening, una go surely know say na Jehovah bring una come out from the land of Egypt. 7 For morning una go see the glory of Jehovah, because e don hear una complain against Jehovah. Who we be wey una go complain against us?” 8 Moses continue to talk say: “When Jehovah give una meat to chop for evening and food* to chop belleful for morning, una go see say Jehovah don hear wetin una de complain against-am. But who we be? Una complain no be against us, but na against Jehovah.”
9 Then Moses tell Aaron say: “Tell all Israel people say, ‘Make una come near front of Jehovah, because e don hear wetin una de complain about.’” 10 As Aaron just talk to all Israel people finish, them turn face the wilderness, and see! the glory of Jehovah appear for the cloud.
11 Jehovah continue to talk to Moses say: 12 “I don hear wetin Israel people de complain about. Tell them say, ‘For evening,* una go chop meat, and for morning una go chop food* belleful, and una go surely know say I be Jehovah una God.’”
13 So that evening, quail bird come and cover the camp, and for morning, dew cover everywhere around the camp. 14 When the dew don comot go up, something wey smooth and be like small-small seed come dey the ground for the wilderness. E smooth like snow wey dey ground. 15 When Israel people see-am, them start to ask each other say, “Wetin be this?” because them no know wetin e be. Moses tell them say: “Na the bread wey Jehovah don give una as food. 16 This one na wetin Jehovah don command, ‘Make each person gather-am according to the amount wey e fit chop. Make una take one omer measure* for each person according to the number of people* wey each of una get for im tent.’” 17 Israel people start to do like that. Them gather-am. Some people gather plenty, and some people gather small. 18 When them measure-am with omer, the person wey don gather plenty no get too much and the person wey don gather small no get shortage. Each of them gather according to wetin them fit chop.
19 Then Moses tell them say: “Make nobody leave any of-am till morning.” 20 But them no listen to Moses. When some people* leave some of-am till morning, e start to bring out worms and de smell, and Moses really vex for them. 21 Them de go gather-am every morning, each person according to wetin e fit chop. When sun don hot, e go melt.
22 For the sixth day, them gather times two of the food,* two omer measures for each person. So all the chiefs of the people come and report the matter to Moses. 23 With this one, e tell them say: “Na wetin Jehovah don talk. Tomorrow go be day of complete rest,* e go be holy sabbath for Jehovah. Make una bake wetin una need to bake, and boil wetin una need to boil; then save anything wey remain and keep-am till morning.” 24 So them save-am reach morning just as Moses don command, and e no smell or bring out worms for inside. 25 Then Moses talk say: “Make una chop-am today, because today na sabbath for Jehovah. Una no go see-am for ground today. 26 Una go gather-am for six days, but for the seventh day wey be Sabbath, e no go dey.” 27 But some of the people comot to go gather-am for the seventh day, but them no see anything.
28 So Jehovah tell Moses say: “How long una no go de do the things wey I command and de follow my laws? 29 Make una remember say Jehovah don give una Sabbath day. Na because of this one e de give una two days food* for the sixth day. Everybody must stay where e dey. Nobody go leave im place for the seventh day.” 30 So the people do Sabbath* for the seventh day.
31 The people of Israel call the food “manna.”* The food white like coriander seed, and im taste be like flat cakes wey them put honey. 32 Then Moses talk say: “This one na wetin Jehovah don command, ‘Make una gather-am to full one omer measure and keep-am from generation to generation, so that them fit see the food* wey I give una to chop for the wilderness when I de bring una come out from the land of Egypt.’” 33 So Moses tell Aaron say: “Take one jar and put one omer measure of manna for inside, and put-am for front of Jehovah as something wey una go keep from generation to generation.” 34 Aaron put-am for front of the Testimony, so that nothing go do-am just as Jehovah don command Moses. 35 Israel people chop the manna for 40 years, until them reach land wey people de stay. Them chop the manna until them reach the boundary of the land of Ca′naan. 36 Now ten omers na im be one e′phah measure.*
