Deuteronomy 16:1-22

Deuteronomy

16 “Remember the month of A′bib and celebrate the Passover to Jehovah your God, because for the month of A′bib, Jehovah your God bring you come out from Egypt for night. 2 And make you sacrifice the Passover offering to Jehovah your God, from the sheep and the animals, for the place wey Jehovah choose to put im name. 3 Make you no chop anything wey get yeast together with-am; for seven days make you chop bread wey no get yeast, the bread of suffer, because you hurry come out from the land of Egypt. Do this one so that you fit remember the day wey you come out from the land of Egypt, as long as you dey alive. 4 Make no flour wey them mix with water and yeast dey with you for all your area for seven days, and make any meat wey you go use do sacrifice for evening for the first day, no remain the whole night till the next morning. 5 Them no go allow you to sacrifice the Passover offering for just any of the cities wey Jehovah your God de give you. 6 But make you do-am for the place wey Jehovah your God don choose to put im name. Make you sacrifice the Passover offering for evening as the sun just go down, for the correct time wey you come out from Egypt. 7 You must cook-am and chop-am for the place wey Jehovah your God go choose, and for morning you fit go back to your own tent. 8 For six days you go chop bread wey no get yeast, and for the seventh day, holy occasion go dey to Jehovah your God. Make you no do any work.

9 “Make you count seven weeks. You go start to count seven weeks from the time wey you start to harvest grain for farm.* 10 Then you go celebrate the Festival of Weeks to Jehovah your God with the offering from your hand wey your heart move you to give, make you give according to how Jehovah your God de bless you. 11 And you go de happy for front of Jehovah your God, you and your son, your daughter, your man slave, your woman slave, the Levite wey dey inside your cities,* the stranger wey de live for the land, the pikin wey no get papa,* and the widow, all of them wey dey with you, for the place wey Jehovah your God choose to put im name. 12 Remember say you be slave for Egypt before, and make you obey and follow this laws.

13 “Make you celebrate the Festival of Booths* for seven days when you gather your seeds from the place wey you de separate grain from plant and from the place wey you de make oil and wine. 14 Make you de happy for the time of your festival, you and your son, your daughter, your man slave, your woman slave, the Levite, the stranger wey de live for the land, the pikin wey no get papa, and the widow wey dey inside your cities. 15 You go celebrate the festival to Jehovah your God for seven days for the place wey Jehovah choose, because Jehovah your God go bless all the things wey your land go produce and everything wey you go do, and you go really happy no be small.

16 “Three times each year, make all your men come front of Jehovah your God for the place wey e choose: for the Festival of Bread Wey No Get Yeast, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Booths,* and make any of them no come front of Jehovah with empty hand. 17 Make the gift wey each person bring be according to the blessing wey Jehovah your God don give you.

18 “Make you choose judges and officers for each tribe for all the cities* wey Jehovah your God de give you, and them must judge the people with the kind judgment wey correct for God eye. 19 Make you no ever bend the truth, no do partial or collect bribe, because bribe de blind the eyes of people wey get sense and e de make righteous people bend wetin them de talk. 20 Judge well, try your best to judge well, so that you fit continue to dey alive and take the land wey Jehovah your God de give you as your own.

21 “Make you no plant any kind of tree as idol pole* near the altar wey you make for Jehovah your God.

22 “And make you no arrange idol pillar for yourself, something wey Jehovah your God hate.
