The Second Book of Chronicles
11 When Re·ho·bo′am reach Jerusalem, quick-quick, e gather the people for the tribe of Judah and Benjamin, to fight Israel people so that the kingdom go come back to Re·ho·bo′am. Them be 180,000 strong soldiers wey them don train.* 2 Then Jehovah talk to She·mai′ah wey be the man of the true God say: 3 “Make you tell Re·ho·bo′am wey be the son of Sol′o·mon the king of Judah and to all Israel people for Judah and Benjamin say, 4 ‘This na wetin Jehovah talk: “Israel people na una brothers. Make una no go fight them. Make each of una go back to im house, because na me make-am happen like this.”’” So them obey the word of Jehovah and go back and them no go fight Jer·o·bo′am.
5 Re·ho·bo′am live for Jerusalem and e build cities wey get strong protection for Judah. 6 So the cities wey e build again na Beth′le·hem, E′tam, Te·ko′a, 7 Beth-zur, So′co, A·dul′lam, 8 Gath, Ma·re′shah, Ziph, 9 Ad·o·ra′im, La′chish, A·ze′kah, 10 Zor′ah, Ai′ja·lon, and Heb′ron, strong cities wey get protection wey dey for Judah and Benjamin. 11 Another thing be say, e make the place them wey get strong protection to dey strong pass before, and e put commanders there and give them food, oil, and wine, 12 and e give all the different-different cities big shields and lance* them; e make them strong no be small. And Judah and Benjamin continue to be im own.
13 And the priests and the Levites wey dey for all Israel support-am. Them come out from all their areas for Israel. 14 The Levites leave their land wey grass dey for animals to chop and their property, and them come Judah and Jerusalem because Jer·o·bo′am and im sons don remove them say make them no work as priests for Jehovah again. 15 Then Jer·o·bo′am choose im own priests for the high place* them and for the demons wey be like goat,* and for the small cows wey e don make. 16 And people wey come from all the tribes of Israel wey don decide for their heart say them go look for Jehovah the God of Israel, follow them go Jerusalem to sacrifice to Jehovah the God of their papa-papa them. 17 For three years them make the kingdom of Judah strong and them support Re·ho·bo′am the son of Sol′o·mon, because for three years, them live their life the way David and Sol′o·mon live.
18 Then Re·ho·bo′am marry Ma′ha·lath the daughter of David son wey im name na Jer′i·moth. Ma′ha·lath na still the daughter of Ab′i·ha·il, the daughter of Jes′se son wey im name na E·li′ab. 19 As time de go, e born this sons for-am: Je′ush, Shem·a·ri′ah, and Za′ham. 20 After-am, e marry Ma′a·cah the granddaughter of Ab′sa·lom. As time de go, e born A·bi′jah, At′tai, Zi′za, and She·lo′mith for-am. 21 Re·ho·bo′am love Ma′a·cah wey be the granddaughter of Ab′sa·lom pass all im other wives and concubines* because e marry 18 wives and e take 60 concubines, and e born 28 sons and 60 daughters. 22 So Re·ho·bo′am choose A·bi′jah the son of Ma′a·cah as head and leader among im brothers, because e get-am for mind say e want make-am king. 23 But, e do wetin show say e understand how things be and send* some of im sons go all the areas of Judah and Benjamin, go all the cities wey get strong protection, and e give them plenty things and marry plenty wives for them.
