5 Then Moses call all Israel people and tell them say: “O Israel, make una hear the laws and the decisions wey I de announce to una today, and una must learn them and make sure say una obey them. 2 Jehovah our God don make agreement with us for Hor′eb. 3 No be with our papa-papa them Jehovah make this agreement, but na with us, all of us wey dey alive here today. 4 Jehovah talk face-to-face with una for mountain from inside fire. 5 I be stand between Jehovah and una that time to tell una wetin Jehovah talk, since una be de fear because of the fire and una no go up for the mountain. E talk say:

6 “‘I be Jehovah your God wey bring you come out from the land of Egypt, from the place wey you be dey as slave. 7 Make you no ever get any other gods except me.*

8 “‘Make you no ever carve image for yourself or something wey be like anything wey dey the heavens wey dey up, or for the earth wey dey down, or inside the water under the earth. 9 Make you no ever bow down to them or allow anything draw you to worship them, because me, Jehovah your God, I be God wey want make person worship only me. I de allow the children, the grandchildren,* and the great-grandchildren* to face the punishment for the sins of their papa them wey hate me, 10 but I de show love wey no de fail to thousands of generations of the people wey love me and de obey my commandments.

11 “‘Make you no ever use the name of Jehovah your God for way wey no show respect, because Jehovah no go fail to punish the person wey de use im name for way wey no show respect.

12 “‘Obey the Sabbath day so that you go keep-am holy, just as Jehovah your God don command you. 13 You go work and do all your work for six days, 14 but the seventh day na sabbath for Jehovah your God. Make you no ever do any work, whether you, your son, your daughter, your man slave, your slave girl, your bull, your donkey, any of your animals wey fit live with people, or your stranger wey de live for the land wey dey your cities,* so that your man slave and your slave girl fit rest just like you. 15 Remember say you be slave for the land of Egypt before, and say Jehovah your God bring you out from there with strong hand and with powerful hand.* Na this one make Jehovah your God command you say make you obey the Sabbath day.

16 “‘Honor your papa and your mama, just as Jehovah your God don command you, so that you go fit live long and e go go well for you* for the land wey Jehovah your God de give you.

17 “‘Make you no ever kill person.

18 “‘Make you no ever sleep with person wey no be your husband or wife.

19 “‘Make you no ever thief.

20 “‘Make you no ever lie against person when them call you to talk about matter wey concern-am.

21 “‘Make e no ever hungry you to collect another person wife. And make e no ever hungry you to collect another person house or im land or im man slave or im slave girl or im bull or im donkey or anything wey be another person own.’

22 “From inside the fire, the clouds, and dark clouds, Jehovah use loud voice talk this commandments* to all of una wey gather for mountain, and e no add any other thing; then e write them ontop two stone slates and give them to me.

23 “But as una just hear the voice wey de come out from the darkness, as the mountain de burn with fire, all the heads of una tribes and the elders come near me. 24 Then una talk say, ‘For here, Jehovah our God don show us im glory and im power, and we don hear im voice wey de come out from the fire. Today we don see say God fit talk with person and the person fit still continue to live. 25 Now, why we suppose die? This big fire fit burn us. If we continue to hear the voice of Jehovah our God, we go surely die. 26 Who dey among all the people* wey don hear the voice of the God wey dey alive as e de talk from fire as we don hear-am and e still continue to live? 27 Na you go go near and hear all the things wey Jehovah our God go talk, and na you go be the person wey go tell us all the things wey Jehovah our God tell you, and we go listen and do-am.’

28 “So Jehovah hear the things wey una tell me, and Jehovah tell me say, ‘I don hear the things wey this people don tell you. Everything wey them don talk dey good. 29 If only them go always get the heart wey ready to fear me and to obey all my commandments; then e go better for them and their sons forever! 30 Go tell them say: “Make una go back to una tents.” 31 But make you stay here with me and make I tell you all the commandments, the laws, and the decisions wey you go teach them and wey them go obey for the land wey I de give them to take as their own.’ 32 Now una must make sure say una do just as Jehovah una God don command una. Make una no turn go right or go left. 33 Make una follow all the things wey Jehovah una God don command una, so that una fit dey alive, and e go go well with una, and una go live long life* for the land wey una go take as una own.
