Deuteronomy
9 “Listen, O Israel, today you de cross River Jordan to go inside and collect the land of nations wey big and strong pass you, cities wey strong and get strong walls for protection wey high reach the heavens,* 2 people wey strong and tall, the sons of An′a·kim, wey you know about and wey you don hear wey people de talk say, ‘Who fit stand against the sons of A′nak?’ 3 So, make you know today say Jehovah your God go first you cross. E be fire wey de burn something finish, and e go destroy them finish. E go win them for your front so that you fit drive them comot* quick-quick and destroy them, just as Jehovah don promise you.
4 “Make you no talk for inside your heart when Jehovah your God drive them comot from your front say, ‘Na because I de do wetin correct for God eye na im make Jehovah bring me come inside this land to take-am as my property.’ Instead, na because this nations de do wetin wicked na im make Jehovah drive them comot from your front. 5 No be because you de do wetin correct for God eye or your heart dey clean na im make you de enter inside to collect their land as your property. Instead, na because this nations de do wicked things na im make Jehovah your God de drive them comot from your front and so that Jehovah go do wetin e swear to your papa-papa them, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 6 So, know say no be because you de do wetin correct for God eye na im make Jehovah your God de give you this good land to take as your property, because una be people wey stubborn.*
7 “Remember, make you no ever forget, the way you provoke Jehovah your God for the wilderness. From the day wey you comot from the land of Egypt until una come this place, una don turn against Jehovah. 8 Even for Hor′eb una provoke Jehovah, and Jehovah vex for una no be small sotey e ready to destroy una finish. 9 When I go up for the mountain to receive the stone slates, the slates of the agreement wey Jehovah make with una, I stay ontop the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, I no chop food and I no drink water. 10 Then Jehovah give me the two stone slates wey God finger write ontop and them get all the words wey Jehovah don tell una for the mountain from inside fire for the day wey una gather.* 11 When the 40 days and 40 nights don end, Jehovah give me the two stone slates, the slates of the agreement, 12 and Jehovah tell me say, ‘Get up, go down quick-quick from here, because your people wey you bring come out from Egypt don spoil theirself. Them don turn comot from the road quick-quick wey I command them to follow. Them don use metal make image* for theirself.’ 13 Then Jehovah tell me say, ‘I don look this people, and see! them be people wey stubborn.* 14 Leave me and I go destroy them finish, and remove their name from under the heavens, and allow me to make you be nation wey strong pass them and plenty pass them.’
15 “Then I turn go down for the mountain as the mountain de burn with fire, and the two slates of the agreement dey my hands. 16 Then I look and see say una don sin against Jehovah una God! Una don use metal make* small cow for unaself. Una don turn comot quick-quick from the road wey Jehovah don command una to follow. 17 Then I carry the two slates and throw them for ground with my two hands and scatter them for una front. 18 Then I bow down and lie down for ground for front of Jehovah as I don do before, for 40 days and 40 nights. I no chop food and I no drink water, because of all the sins wey una don do as una do wicked things for front of Jehovah and make-am vex. 19 And I fear because Jehovah really vex for una, since e be dey ready to destroy una finish. But, Jehovah listen to me that time too.
20 “Jehovah really vex for Aaron no be small, sotey e ready to destroy-am finish, but I beg for Aaron that time too. 21 Then I take the small cow wey una make, wey be sin for una, and burn-am finish for inside fire. I pieces-am and grind-am well until e smooth like dust, and I throw the dust inside water wey de flow go down from the mountain.
22 “And for Tab′e·rah, for Mas′sah, and for Kib′roth-hat·ta′a·vah, una still provoke Jehovah and make-am vex. 23 When Jehovah send una comot from Ka′desh-bar′ne·a and talk say, ‘Make una go up and take the land as una own wey I go surely give una!’ una turn against the command of Jehovah una God again, and una no show faith for-am and una no obey-am. 24 Una don always turn against Jehovah since I know una.
25 “So I continue to bow down and lie down face ground for front of Jehovah for 40 days and 40 nights. I bow down and lie down face ground like this because Jehovah talk say e go destroy una finish. 26 I start to beg Jehovah and talk say, ‘O Jehovah, the Lord Wey High Pass, make you no destroy your people. Them be your own property, wey you buy back with your power and bring come out from Egypt with your strong hand. 27 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Make you no put your mind for the way this people dey stubborn, their wickedness, and their sin. 28 If no be so, the people of the land wey you bring us from fit talk say: “Jehovah no fit bring them come inside the land wey e promise them, and because e hate them, e bring them come out to kill them for the wilderness.” 29 Them be your people and your own property wey you bring come out with your great power and your powerful hand.’*
