The Love and Care Wey Them Show Me Bring Plenty Blessing to Me

My papa na elder for the United Church of Canada wey dey our area. Every Sunday morning, my papa de send me and my younger sister go Sunday school when we reach Church and we go join-am later for the church service around 11 o’clock for morning. And for afternoon, we go follow our mama go Kingdom Hall. So e dey easy for us to see how the things wey the two religion de teach, take different.

As my mama learn the truth, e help Bob and Marion Hutcheson, learn the truth. For 1958, Brother Bob and e wife carry me and their three son go the eight days Divine Will International Assembly for New York City. Now when I think about that time, I de see say no be small thing them do to fit carry me go that Assembly. And the Assembly na one of the best things wey don ever happen to me.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS HELP ME DO MORE FOR JEHOVAH WORK

When I dey between 13 and 19 years, we get farm where animals dey, and I enjoy to de care for the animals. This one make me start to think about to go school and become doctor wey de treat animals. And my mama tell one elder for congregation. When e hear-am, e remind me say we de live for “last days,” and ask me say if I go spend plenty years for university, how that one fit affect my friendship with Jehovah? (2 Tim. 3:1) This one make me decide say I no go go university again.

But I still de wonder wetin I go do after I finish secondary school. Even though say I de go preaching every weekend, I no de really enjoy-am so e no come dey my mind to pioneer. But for the same time, my papa and my uncle wey no be Witness encourage me to work for one big insurance company for Toronto. My uncle na big man for the company so I agree to work for the company.

When I de work for the company, I de work reach night plenty times and I de spend plenty time with people wey no de worship Jehovah. This one make me miss meeting plenty times and I no come de preach like before. That time, I be de stay with my grandpapa wey no be Jehovah Witness, but after e die, I need to go stay another place.

Brother Bob and e wife wey carry me go convention for 1958, just be like papa and mama to me. Them say make I come de stay for their house and them help me fit start to worship Jehovah well again. For 1960, me and one of their pikin wey e name na John, baptize. John start to pioneer after e baptize, this one make me start to do more for preaching. The elders for our congregation notice say I de do my best, so after some time, them make me Theocratic Ministry School servant.a

I MARRY AND BECOME PIONEER

For 1966, I marry Sister Randi Berge wey be better pioneer, and e like to go preach for where our organization need more people to preach. Our circuit overseer really care about us, so e encourage us say make we go support the congregation wey dey Orillia for Ontario. So we no waste time to go.

When we reach Orillia, I no waste time to start to pioneer. This one make me happy well-well like my wife. After I start to pioneer, I do my best to be better pioneer, and this one make me happy as I learn to use Bible well and see as people de understand the truth. E really sweet me say I fit help one husband and wife change the way them de live their life and start to worship Jehovah.

WE LEARN NEW LANGUAGE AND NEW WAY TO THINK

One time wey we visit Toronto, I meet Brother Arnold MacNamara, wey be one of the overseers for Bethel. E ask me if we go like to be special pioneer. I tell-am at once say: “Yes o! We ready to go anywhere, apart from Quebec!” I no want go that area because of the bad things wey people wey de speak English for Canada, de talk about Quebec where people wey de speak French dey. That time, people for Quebec de protest say them no want be part of Canada again.

Brother Arnold tell me say, “The only place wey branch office de send special pioneers go now na Quebec.” So I gree at once say we go go because I know say my wife like to go serve for there. Na later I see say this na one of the best decision wey we don make.

When we reach Quebec, them teach us French for five weeks, and after, them send me, my wife, and another husband and wife go Rimouski, wey dey 540 kilometers (336 mi) from Montreal. But we still get plenty things to learn for French language and I notice this one for one meeting when I read announcement. I talk say we go get plenty brothers and sisters wey go come from ostrich, wey be name of one big bird, instead to say from Austria wey be country.

When we dey Rimouski, Brother and Sister Huberdeau, their two daughter and four other sisters wey never marry come join us for there. Brother and Sister Huberdeau rent one house for there wey get seven bedroom and all the pioneers contribute money to pay for the house. We de call the house White House, because na white paint them use paint the house. Sometimes, e de reach 14 of us wey de stay there. Since we be special pioneer, me and my wife de go preach for morning, afternoon, and evening. So we really happy because we de always get person wey go follow us go preach even for evening for cold season.

We come be tight friends with the pioneers sotey them be like family to us. Sometimes we go make big fire, and we go sitdown round-am or we go choose one day and cook together. One of the brothers na musician, so some Saturday night, we de sing and dance.

Plenty people for Rimouski really like our message. For the first five years wey we stay there, we study Bible with plenty people and them baptize. The number of publishers for our congregation come be about 35 publishers, and this one really make us happy.

For Quebec, we learn how to preach well-well. We see how Jehovah de help us for our preaching work and still give us other things wey we need. Another thing be say we come love the people wey de speak French, their language, and their culture. This one make us love the way other people de do things.—2 Cor. 6:13.

Something happen wey we no expect. Branch office talk say make we go Tracadie wey dey the east side of New Brunswick. This one no easy for us because we just pay our house rent and I de teach for some days every week for one school. Another thing be say some of our Bible students just become publishers and we de build new Kingdom Hall.

We pray plenty times that weekend about the matter and we go see how Tracadie be, and e really different from Rimouski. But we decide say since Jehovah want make we go there, we go go. We tell ourself say we go see how Jehovah go help us, and we see say e really help us. (Mal. 3:10) To pack go Tracadie no too hard because my wife really love Jehovah, e no dey selfish, and e sabi make person laugh.

Na only one elder dey our new congregation, and e name na Robert Ross. Brother Robert and e wife wey e name na Linda, na pioneer for there before. But after them born their first pikin, them decide to remain for there. Even though say them get pikin wey them de care for, them encourage us well-well with their better character. Them de welcome people well, and them like preaching work well-well.

WE ENJOY PLENTY BLESSING AS WE GO ANYWHERE WEY THEM SEND US

After we don stay for Tracadie for two years, something wey we no expect happen again. Them make me circuit overseer. We serve English circuit for seven years and after, them send us go French circuit for Quebec. Our district overseer for Quebec wey e name na Léonce Crépeault, de always thank me after I give my talk finish. But after, e go ask me say, “Wetin you think say you for fit do to make-am touch their heart more?”b The way Brother Léonce show me love, make me do my best to make sure say my talk simple and easy to understand.

I no go ever forget the “Victorious Faith” International Convention for Montreal, wey we do for 1978. Them say make I work with the people wey de cook and serve food to people wey come the convention. We be de expect 80,000 people, and no be the way we de do-am before, we go do this one. Everything dey new: the things wey we go use cook, the kind food wey we go cook, and the way we go cook-am. We get about 20 big-big fridge wey we de use keep food, but sometimes them no de work. Before the first day of the convention, we no fit enter the stadium to arrange the things wey we want use until midnight, because people use the stadium for sport the day before the convention. So we arrange the different-different oven that night and make the morning food before daybreak. The work really make us tire, but I learn from the hard work of the brothers, their maturity, and the way them de make us laugh as we de work together. This one make us be better friends reach today. I really happy to go this special convention for Quebec, the same place wey government people suffer Jehovah people between 1940 and 1960.

For our big conventions for Montreal, I learn plenty things from other elders. One year, na Brother Splane wey be Governing Body member now be the convention overseer. For another convention, na me them make convention overseer and Brother Splane really support me well-well.

For 2011, after me and my wife don enjoy circuit work for 36 years, Branch send me as instructor for School for Congregation Elders. For only two years, me and my wife sleep for 75 different-different bed, but all this na because of our love for Jehovah. For the end of every week, the elders de really happy no be small, because the school de help them see say Governing Body really care for them and want make their love for Jehovah strong.

Later, branch office send me as instructor for School for Kingdom Evangelizers. The students get plenty things to do for the school. For example, them go sitdown for class for about seven hours everyday, them go do homework for three hours every evening, and them go still get about four or five assignment wey them go do for class every week. But me and the other instructor explain to them say them no go fit do-am if Jehovah no help them. I no go ever forget the way the students de surprise when them see say when them trust Jehovah, e de help them for the school even pass the way them expect.

WHEN WE SHOW PEOPLE SAY WE LOVE AND CARE FOR THEM, E DE BRING PLENTY BLESSING

The love wey my mama show other people help some of e Bible students progress sotey them baptize and e still help my papa change e mind about the truth. Three days after my mama die, my papa surprise us when e come Sunday meeting for Kingdom Hall. And e continue to go meeting for 26 years. Even though say my papa no baptize before e die, the elders tell me say na my papa de always first reach Kingdom Hall every week.

My mama still set better example for us wey be e children. All my three sisters and their husband de worship Jehovah well. Two among them de serve for Bethel, one dey Portugal branch and the other one dey Haiti branch.

Me and my wife na special pioneer now for Hamilton wey dey Ontario. When we dey for circuit work, we de happy to follow other people go study their Bible students. But now e de sweet us to see our own Bible students de progress. And as our friendship with our brothers and sisters for our new congregation de grow, e de encourage us to see how Jehovah de support them both when things good and when things bad.

When we think about our life, we de thank Jehovah say plenty people show us love. This one don move us to do our best to show other people say we really care for them as we de encourage them to do their best for Jehovah work. (2 Cor. 7:6, 7) For one family, the mama and e two pikin de pioneer. So I ask the husband if e don ever think about to pioneer. E talk say e de support e wife and e two children wey de pioneer. So I ask-am say, “You think say you fit support them pass the way Jehovah go support them?” I encourage-am say make e try pioneer so that e go enjoy wetin them de enjoy. Six months later, e start to pioneer.

Me and my wife go continue to “tell the next generation” about “the wonderful things wey [Jehovah don] do.” And we hope say them go enjoy to worship Jehovah the way we enjoy-am.—Ps. 71:17, 18.
