2 Now Na·o′mi get one family person from im husband side wey rich no be small; im name na Bo′az, and e come from the family of E·lim′e·lech.
2 Ruth wey be Mo′ab woman tell Na·o′mi say: “Abeg, allow me make I comot go the area wey farms dey and pick the grains wey remain from the farm of anybody wey go show me favor.” So Na·o′mi tell-am say: “Go, my daughter.” 3 Then e comot go, and start to pick grain wey remain for farm as the people wey de harvest de harvest. E happen say Ruth come enter one farm and the man wey get-am na Bo′az, wey come from the family of E·lim′e·lech. 4 Then just that time, Bo′az come from Beth′le·hem and tell the people wey de harvest say: “Make Jehovah dey with una.” And them answer say: “Make Jehovah bless you.”
5 Then Bo′az ask the young man wey dey in charge of the people wey de harvest say: “Which family this young woman come from?” 6 The young man wey dey in charge of the people wey de harvest answer say: “The young woman na Mo′ab person wey come back with Na·o′mi from the land of Mo′ab. 7 E ask me say, ‘Abeg, I fit pick and gather from the grains wey them don cut* wey the people wey de harvest leave?’ And since morning wey e come, e don de work until just now wey e sitdown under shade to rest small.”
8 Then Bo′az tell Ruth say: “Listen, my daughter. No go pick grain wey remain for another farm, and no go another place; dey near my young women. 9 Put your eyes for the farm where them de do the harvest, and follow them. I don command the young men say make them no touch* you. When water de hungry you, go where them keep the water pots and drink from the water wey the young men don fetch.”
10 Then Ruth kneel down and bow face ground and tell-am say: “Why you de show me favor, and why you de care about me even though say I be stranger?” 11 Bo′az answer-am say: “Them tell me everything wey you don do for your mother-in-law after your husband die, and how you leave your papa and your mama and the land wey your family people de stay to come stay with people wey you no know before. 12 Make Jehovah bless you for wetin you don do, and make you get complete payment* from Jehovah the God of Israel wey you don come hide under im wings.” 13 So Ruth talk say: “Make you continue to show me favor my lord, because you don comfort me and you don talk wetin encourage* your servant, even though say I no even be one of your servants.”
14 When time to chop don reach, Bo′az tell-am say: “Come here, chop some bread, and put your bread inside vinegar.” So e come sitdown near the people wey de harvest, then Bo′az give-am some grain wey them roast, and e chop and belleful, and some even remain for-am. 15 When e get up to pick the grains wey remain after them don harvest, Bo′az command im young men say: “Make una allow-am pick grains even from among the ones wey them don cut,* and make una no disturb-am. 16 Make una make sure say una remove some of the grains from the bundles for-am and leave them make e come pick, and make una no talk anything to stop-am.”
17 So e continue to pick the grain wey remain for the farm until evening. When e nack the grain wey e pick and comot the chaffs, e reach about one e′phah* of barley. 18 Then e carry-am go inside the city and im mother-in-law see the grain wey e don pick. Ruth still bring out the food wey remain after e don chop belleful for farm and give im mother-in-law.
19 Then im mother-in-law ask-am say: “Where you pick grain today? Where you work? Make God bless the person wey care for you.” So e tell im mother-in-law about the person wey e work with say: “The name of the man wey I work with today na Bo′az.” 20 So Na·o′mi tell im daughter-in-law say: “Make Jehovah wey never stop to show im love wey no de fail for people wey dey alive and the ones wey don die bless-am.” Na·o′mi still talk say: “The man na our family person. Na one of the people wey get the right to buy us back.”* 21 Then Ruth wey be Mo′ab woman talk say: “The man still tell me say, ‘Dey near my young people until them don harvest everything for my farm finish.’” 22 Na·o′mi tell im daughter-in-law Ruth say: “My daughter, e better make you follow im young women de work than say make them disturb you for another farm.”
23 So e continue to dey near the young women wey de work for Bo′az and e de pick grain wey remain for the farm until them finish the barley harvest and the wheat harvest. And e continue to stay with im mother-in-law.
