Song of Solomon 1:1-17

The Song of Solomon

1 The song wey pass songs,* wey Solʹo·mon write:

2 “Make e kiss me, make e kiss me with im mouth,

Because the ways you de show love better pass wine.

3 The smell from your oils really good.

Your name be like oil wey them pour come out wey de scent well.

Na im make the young women love you.

4 Carry me go;* make we run comot.

The king don carry me enter im rooms wey dey inside-inside!

Make we get joy and really de happy because of you.

Make we praise* the ways you de show love, make we praise-am pass wine.

No wonder them* love you.

5 I black, but I fine, O daughters of Jerusalem,

Like the tents of Keʹdar, like the tent cloths of Solʹo·mon.

6 Make una no de look me because I black,

Because na the sun make me black.

My brothers* be de vex for me;

Them say make I go de take care of the vine farms,

But I no take care of my own vine farm.

7 You wey I love* well-well, tell me,

The place wey you de go feed your animals,

The place wey you de make them lie down for afternoon.*

Why I go be like woman wey cover im face with cloth*

Among the animals wey your friends get?”

8 “O you wey fine pass among women, if you no know,

Make you go follow where the animals don waka pass

And go feed your young goats near the tents of the shepherds.”

9 “My love, I go talk say you be like one* fine horse* among the chariots wey Pharʹaoh get.

10 Your jewelries de make your cheeks fine no be small,*

And the beads for your neck de make-am fine.

11 We go make gold jewelries* for you

The one wey them design with silver.”

12 “As the king sitdown for im round table,

My perfume* de bring out fine scent.

13 For me, my dear one be like bag of myrrh wey de scent

Wey dey between my breasts the whole night.

14 For me, my dear one be like bunch of henna flowers

Wey dey among the vine farms for En-gedʹi.”

15 “See! You too fine, my love.

See! You too fine. Your eyes be like dove own.”

16 “See! My dear one, you too fine,* and you de give me joy.

Our bed na for inside fresh grass.

17 The woods for our house* na cedarwoods,

And the woods for our roof na juniper trees.
