11 And Naʹhash the Amʹmon·ite+ proceeded to go up and camp against Jaʹbesh+ in Gilʹe·ad.* At that all the men of Jaʹbesh said to Naʹhash: “Conclude a covenant with us that we may serve you.”+

4 Then the men of Judah+ came and anointed+ David there as king over the house of Judah.+

And they came telling David, saying: “The men of Jaʹbesh-gilʹe·ad were the ones that buried Saul.”

12 So David went and took the bones of Saul+ and the bones of Jonʹa·than his son from the landowners of Jaʹbesh-gilʹe·ad,+ who had stolen them from the public square of Beth-shan,+ where the Phi·lisʹtines had hanged+ them on the day that the Phi·lisʹtines struck down Saul on Gil·boʹa.+

11 And all those of Jaʹbesh+ in Gilʹe·ad got to hear of all that the Phi·lisʹtines had done to Saul.+
