22 When they went up into the Negʹeb,+ they then came to Heʹbron.+ Now A·hiʹman, Sheʹshai and Talʹmai,+ those born of Aʹnak,*+ were there. Incidentally, Heʹbron+ had been built seven years before Zoʹan+ of Egypt.

2 And it came about afterward that David proceeded to inquire of Jehovah,+ saying: “Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah?” At this Jehovah said to him: “Go up.” And David went on to say: “Where shall I go up?” Then he said: “To Heʹbron.”+

5 In Heʹbron he ruled as king over Judah for seven years and six months;+ and in Jerusalem+ he ruled as king for thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
