LESSON 42

Jonathan Ɣɛni Ga Zii-Lɔɔ Nu Kataba Wõila Zeea

King Saul first son, Jonathan, wor brave warrior. David say Jonathan wor fast more than eagle and strong pass lion. One day, Jonathan see 20 Philistine soldiers on the hill. He tell the person that wor holding his armor: ‘We will only attack them if Jehovah show us sign. If the Philistines tell us to climb up, then we know that we suppose to attack.’ Then the Philistines start shouting: ‘Yor come up let fight!’ So the two men dem climb up to fight and they win the war.

Jonathan wor Saul first son, so he suppose to be the next king. But Jonathan knew that Jehovah na choose David to be the next king for Israel, and he wor not jealous. Jonathan and David wor best friends. And they promise to protect and stand up for each other. Jonathan give his coat, sword, bow, and belt to David to show that they wor friends.

When David wor running away from Saul, Jonathan go to him and tell him say: ‘Be strong, and get courage. Jehovah na choose you to be king. Even my pa know that one.’ You want get friend who good like Jonathan?

Jonathan risk his life to help his friend David more than one time. Even though he knew that his pa, King Saul wanted to kill David, he tell his pa say: ‘You will be committing sin if you kill David; he not do nothing bad to you.’ Saul wor vex bad way with Jonathan. After some years pass, Saul and Jonathan die while they wor fighting war.

After Jonathan die, David look for Jonathan son, Mephibosheth. When David find him, he tell Mephibosheth say: ‘Because your pa wor good friend to me, I will take care of you for your whole life. You will live in my palace and eat on my table.’ David never forget about his friend Jonathan.
