21 Then Satan stand against Israel and e make David count Israel people. 2 So David tell Jo′ab and the people wey de control the army say: “Make una go count all Israel people from Be′er-she′ba go reach Dan; then make una come tell me so that I go know how them plenty reach.” 3 But Jo′ab talk say: “Make Jehovah make the people plenty times 100! My lord the king, no be the servants of my lord all of them don already be? Why my lord want do this kind thing? Why you want make Israel people sin?”
4 But the king no gree listen to Jo′ab. So Jo′ab comot and travel round the whole Israel, and after, e come back to Jerusalem. 5 Then Jo′ab tell David the number of people wey them register. The number of all the people wey them register for Israel na 1,100,000 men wey fit use sword fight, and for Judah, the number of people na, 470,000 men wey fit use sword fight. 6 But Jo′ab no register the tribe of Le′vi and Benjamin because e really hate wetin the king talk.
7 Now this thing vex the true God no be small, so e punish Israel people. 8 Then David tell the true God say: “I don sin well-well as I do this thing. So now, abeg, forgive your servant for the mistake wey e do, because na foolish thing I do so.” 9 Then Jehovah tell Gad, wey de see visions for David, say: 10 “Go tell David say, ‘This na wetin Jehovah talk: “Out of this three things wey I want tell you, choose the one wey I go do you.”’” 11 So Gad come meet David and tell-am say: “This na wetin Jehovah talk, ‘Make you choose 12 whether make serious hunger dey for three years, or make your enemies de win you for three months and use their sword kill you, or for three days, make Jehovah angel use Jehovah sword and bring serious sickness wey de spread wey go kill plenty people for all the land of Israel.’ Now make you think the matter well and tell me wetin I go answer the Person wey send me.” 13 So David tell Gad say: “The thing de really worry me. Abeg, make I fall for Jehovah hand, because e de really pity person no be small, but no allow me fall for man hand.”
14 Then Jehovah bring one serious sickness wey de spread for Israel, wey make 70,000 people die for Israel. 15 Apart from that one, the true God send one angel go Jerusalem to destroy-am, but as e want do like that, Jehovah come see-am and regret* because of the serious sickness wey e bring, and e tell the angel wey de destroy the people say: “E don do! Now bring your hand down.” That time, Jehovah angel dey near the place wey Or′nan wey be Je′bus person de separate grain from plants.
16 When David look up, e see Jehovah angel wey stand for sky and e hold sword wey e stretch face Jerusalem. Quick-quick, David and the elders, with sackcloth wey them use cover their body, fall for ground and face ground. 17 David tell the true God say: “No be me talk say make them count the people? Na me sin, and na me be the person wey do bad; but this sheep, wetin them do? O Jehovah my God, abeg, make your hand dey against me and my papa family;* make you no let your people face this punishment.”
18 Then Jehovah angel tell Gad say make e tell David to go up and build altar to Jehovah ontop the place wey Or′nan wey be Je′bus person de separate grain from plants. 19 So David go up just as Gad use the name of Jehovah tell-am. 20 That time, Or′nan be de separate wheat from plants. As e turn, e see the angel, im four sons wey dey with-am come hide. 21 When David come up come meet Or′nan, Or′nan come look and see David, quick-quick, e come out from where e de separate grain from plant and go bow down face ground for front of David. 22 David tell Or′nan say: “Sell* the place wey you de use separate grain from plants for me, so that I go build altar ontop-am for Jehovah. Sell-am for me for the full price, so that this punishment wey the people de face go stop.” 23 But Or′nan tell David say: “Take-am as your own, and make my lord the king do wetin good for im eyes. I de give you the bulls wey you go use do offerings wey them de burn, and the planks wey we take de separate grain from plants wey you go use as firewood, and the wheat wey you go use do grain offering. I de give you all of them.”
24 But, King David tell Or′nan say: “No, I must buy-am for the full money, because I no go take wetin be your own and give-am to Jehovah or use wetin I no pay anything for to do sacrifice wey them de burn.” 25 So David give Or′nan gold wey heavy reach 600 shekels* to get the place. 26 And David build altar for there for Jehovah, and do sacrifice them wey them de burn, and peace sacrifice them, and e pray to Jehovah wey answer-am with fire wey e send from heaven to burn the offerings wey dey ontop the altar. 27 Then Jehovah command the angel say make e put im sword inside im cover back. 28 That time, when David see say Jehovah don answer-am for the place wey Or′nan wey be Je′bus person de separate grain from plant, e continue to de do sacrifice for there. 29 But that time, the tabernacle of Jehovah wey Moses make for the wilderness, and the altar of offering wey them de burn dey ontop the high place* for Gib′e·on. 30 But David never fit go the front of the tabernacle to ask God for direction because e de fear no be small because of the sword of Jehovah angel.
