How We Fit Live With Small Money

Things don really cost and the money wey people de get now don small pass before. This one don affect you? E don force you to live with small money? Disease wey de spread, problems because of politics, war and other things wey fit scatter people property like fire, water or heavy rain, fit scatter everything for the country. Even though say e really hard to use small money to get everything wey you go need, some fine advice dey for Bible wey fit help you live with small money.

1. Accept-am say things don change now.

Advice for Bible: “I know how to manage . . . whether I get surplus or I no get at all.”—Philippians 4:12.

Even though say the money wey you de get now don small pass before, you fit learn to adjust to how things be now. If you quick accept-am say things don change now, e go help you and your family to start to adjust and manage.

Check whether government or other organizations get any arrangement wey fit really help you. No waste time because them de like-am make people wey need help quick come to tell them say they need help.

2. Make wuna work together as family.

Advice for Bible: “When we no talk to other people, plans no go work, but when plenty people dey wey de give advice, we go succeed.”—Proverbs 15:22.

Discuss how things be with your wife or your husband and your children. If wuna talk together, you fit help everybody for the family to understand why some things need to change and they go fit support anything wey wuna want change. And when everybody de work together to manage wetin dey for house, wuna go fit use the small money wey wuna get to do other things.

3. Write how wuna want spend wuna money.

Advice for Bible: “Sitdown and calculate how much [you] go spend.”—Luke 14:28.

When you no get any choice than to live with small money, e really dey important for you to know wetin you de use all your money do. For your list, first write the amount of money wey you de get now every month. Next, write all the different things wey wuna de buy or pay for every month, even though you know say some of these things go change. For the part wey you list the the things wey you want buy or pay for, add the amount of money wey you want save incase anything happen for future wey you no expect.

See wetin you fit do: When you de write the things wey you want buy, no forget to add small-small things wey you de buy. E fit surprise you to see how much money all those small-small things de take if you add all of them together. For example, after one man add all the money wey e de spend to buy small-small things, e see say e de spend pass 200 dollars to buy chewing gum every year!

4. Decide which things dey important pass and change wetin fit change.

Advice for Bible: “Make wuna dey sure of wetin dey important pass.”—Philippians 1:10.

Compare the money wey you de get every month with how much you de spend every month and check the things wey you fit reduce or even remove so that you no go spend pass wetin you de get. Check this areas:

  • Transport. If you get more than one car, you fit sell one? If the kind car wey you get na one of the latest ones and e de chop plenty money, you fit change-am to another one wey no go too take plenty money? You fit use public transport or bicycle and just remove car from your list?

  • Television. You be de pay money to watch film for Internet, satellite or cable TV? You fit find other ways wey no go too take money? For example, if library dey for your area, they fit borrow you film, or book wey they don record, and they fit no even collect any money for your hand.

  • Other things wey wuna de use for house. Make wuna discuss-am as family about how wuna fit reduce the way wuna de use light, water and fuel. E fit be like small thing to off any light wey we no de use or to bath quick, but things like that fit really help to save money.

  • Food. Try make you no buy food for restaurant. Instead, cook your food for house. Plan wetin you go cook, buy food stuff and you fit even cook-am make e plenty, and chop the one wey remain another time. Before you go market, write list of wetin you want buy, so that you no go buy things wey you no really need. Buy fresh fruit and vegetable wey dey for e season, those ones no de too cost. Try make you no buy food wey no too good for body. Check whether you fit plant some vegetable for your compound.

  • Cloth. Buy cloth when the ones wey you get don spoil, no be to follow fashion. You fit buy good clothes for place wey them de do promotion or for okrika. When you wash your clothes, spread-am for sun make e dry, instead of to use dryer. This one go help you save money.

  • Other things wey you go want buy. Before you buy something, ask yourself say: ‘I really get money to buy-am? I really need-am?’ You fit wait small before you buy phone or car wey fine or big pass wetin you already get? Another thing na say, you fit sell some things wey you no de use again or wey you no need again? If you do all this things, e fit help you reduce the money wey you de spend and add join the money wey you de get.

See wetin you fit do: When the money wey you de get don really small, e fit be extra encouragement for you to stop some kind habit wey no even good and wey de chop your money, like cigar, to de bet, or over drink alcohol. If you stop things like that, e no go only help you save your money, but your body go really strong pass before.

5. Learn about God.

Advice for Bible: “When people know say they need God for their life, they go dey happy.”—Matthew 5:3.

Bible give us this fine advice: “Sense de protect person just the way money de protect person. But the thing wey make sense better pass be say: When person use sense, the sense go save the person.” (Ecclesiastes 7:12) That kind sense dey for inside Bible, and many people don see say if they follow the things wey Bible talk, e de help them to fit control the way them de worry about money matter.—Matthew 6:31, 32.
