One politician and leader for religion hold each other for shoulder, as them de wave hand to plenty people.

E Good Make Religion De Put Hand for Politics?

For the whole world, plenty people wey talk say them de follow Jesus don really put hand for politics. Some people de support some particular party or candidate because they want make they support wetin they believe or wetin their religion teach. And politicians too de like to use matter wey plenty people de talk about to get support from people for different religion. Even some leaders for religion de want make people vote for them to get some position for politics. And for some countries, some church them don get special position as the religion of the country.

Wetin you think? E good make people wey de follow Jesus Christ de put hand for politics? You fit know the answer if you look the example wey Jesus show us. E talk say: “I don show wuna example, so that wuna go do just as I do for wuna.” (John 13:15) Wetin we fit learn from Jesus from the example wey e show for the matter wey concern politics?

Jesus put hand for politics?

No. Jesus no put hand for politics when e dey this earth.

Jesus no try to get position for government. When Satan talk say e go give Jesus “all the kingdoms for this world,” Jesus no gree accept-am. (Matthew 4:8-10)a For another time, some people try to force Jesus to join politics because they see say Jesus get some fine-fine character wey good leader suppose get. Bible talk say: “As Jesus don know say they want come make-am king by force, e sofri comot go mountain by e self.” (John 6:15) Jesus no gree do wetin the people want make e do. E no gree put hand for politics.

Jesus no support any side for politics. For example, the Jews for the time of Jesus de vex as them de pay tax to Rome government because them de see-am as partial. When they try to make Jesus join one side for the matter, e no argue with them about whether e good as them de pay tax. E tell them say: “Pay back things wey be Caesar own to Caesar, but pay back things wey be God own to God.” (Mark 12:13-17) E no support any side for politics but e show say the people need to pay the tax to Caesar or Rome government. Wetin e talk still show say no be everything wey government say make they do na e they must do. Person no go give government wetin e suppose give only God, like worship.—Matthew 4:10; 22:37, 38.

Na only the Kingdom of God wey dey for heaven Jesus support and teach people about. (Luke 4:43) E no put hand for politics because e know say na only the Kingdom of God go do wetin God want for this earth, no be the governments for this world. (Matthew 6:10) E know say the Kingdom of God no go use human government rule but instead the Kingdom of God go remove all human government for this earth.—Daniel 2:44.

The Christians for the time of the apostles put hand for politics?

No. Followers of Jesus obey the command wey Jesus give them say, make they “no be part of the world.” (John 15:19) They follow the example wey Jesus give them and they no put hand for politics matter. (John 17:16; 18:36) Instead make they put hand for politics, they do the work wey Jesus command them to do wey be to preach and teach about the Kingdom of God.—Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 10:42.

Christians for the time of the apostles de obey God and that na the number one thing for their life, but they still know say they need to respect government. (Acts 5:29; 1 Peter 2:13, 17) Them de obey the laws and them de pay their tax. (Romans 13:1, 7) Even though say they no de put hand for politics, they still de gain from the laws wey government make and other things wey government de do.—Acts 25:10, 11; Philippians 1:7.

Wetin people wey de write about things wey don happen before talk about politics and the Christians for the time of the apostles?

  • “Christians no de gree do some things wey Rome people de do. . . . They no de accept any position for government.”—On the Road to Civilization—A World History, page 238.

  • “For Christian, e religion na something wey dey important pass government and na wetin Christ talk e de first obey before Caesar.”—Caesar and Christ, page 647.

  • “[Apostle] Paul dey ready to use e right as Rome citizen to get protection from the law wey the government de use protect people wey be Rome citizen, but that one no mean say e put hand for politics or try to make people put hand for politics. . . . The Christians for the time of the apostles believe say they suppose respect government, but they no believe say they suppose put hand for politics.”—Beyond Good Intentions—A Biblical View of Politics, page 122-123.

  • “Plenty Christians believe say person wey be correct Christian no suppose get any position for government . . . Around two hundred years after the time of Jesus, Hippolytus talk say Christian religion get law say any government person wey want join the Church must first resign from e government position.”—A History of Christianity, Volume I, page 253.

Christians for this our time de support politics?

E clear for Bible say Jesus and the people wey de follow Jesus no put hand for politics. Because of this one, as people wey de follow Jesus, Jehovah Witness for the whole world no de put hand for politics. Like the Christians for the time of the apostles, they do the work wey Jesus command say make they do wey be to preach “the good news about the Kingdom.”—Matthew 24:14.

a When Jesus no gree collect the government wey Satan give-am, e no talk say Satan no get the power to give-am those government. E even call Satan “the person wey de control this world.”—John 14:30
