“Things Wey We Fit Learn From the Camp of Israel People”

it-1 497 ¶3

Congregation

For Israel that time, na elders de represent the people. (Ezr 10:14) Na e make after they don set the tabernacle, na ‘the leaders for the different-different tribe’ give things to support the work for the tabernacle. (Nu 7:1-11) Another thing na say, for the time of Nehemiah, na the priests, Levites, and ‘the leaders of the people’ represent the nation of Israel to sign one important agreement. (Ne 9:38–10:27) When Israel people dey for wilderness, 250 men join Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and On fight against Moses and Aaron. This 250 men, dey among ‘the leaders for Israel, the men wey they choose, and men wey they respect.’ (Nu 16:1-3) Just as Jehovah talk, Moses choose 70 elders for Israel. This elders help Moses handle ‘the problem of the people’ wey too plenty for only one person to handle. (Nu 11:16, 17, 24, 25) Leviticus 4:15 talk about ‘the elders for Israel.’ And e be like say na the elders, the head for each tribe, the judges, and the officers de represent the whole nation.—Nu 1:4, 16; Jos 23:2; 24:1.

it-2 796 ¶1

Reuben

For the camp of Israel people, the tribe of Reuben dey the middle of the tribe of Simeon and Gad, and them dey for the south side of the tabernacle. When them de move comot from where they camp before, na the tribe of Reuben go dey the front of the tribe of Simeon and Gad. But this three tribe go de follow the tribe of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun for back. (Nu 2:10-16; 10:14-20) They still follow this arrangement when they go give gifts, the time wey they dedicate the tabernacle.—Nu 7:1, 2, 10-47.

Lessons From the Book of Numbers

8:25, 26. Jehovah command Moses say when Levite don reach 50 years, e go stop e work for the tabernacle. This one na to help the Levites do their work well and make the work no affect them as they don de old. But they fit still volunteer to help other Levites. Na true say publishers no de retire from preaching no matter their age, but we fit still learn important lesson from this one. If because of old age, publisher no fit do some things wey e de do for Jehovah work before, e fit do the one wey e power reach.

First Son, Firstling (First Male of Animal)

Na the first sons for the nation of Israel de represent the whole nation because na them de become the head of their papa family. In fact, Jehovah call the whole nation of Israel, e “first son.” They be e “first son” because of e agreement with Abraham. (Ex 4:22) As Jehovah save the life of all the first son of Israel people, e command them say ‘all their first son and the first male of their animals’ go be e own. (Ex 13:2) So Israel people give all the first son to Jehovah.

“The Way Jehovah De Direct E People”

it-1 398 ¶3

Camp

Another way wey Jehovah show say e de really arrange e people, na when Israel people de move from place to place (the book of Numbers chapter 33 show say na about 40 place Israel people form camp when them de move). Anytime wey the pillar of cloud dey ontop the tabernacle, the whole camp go remain there. When the cloud move, the people go move. ‘When Jehovah say make they move, they go move, and when e say make they form camp, they go form camp.’ (Nu 9:15-23) Na two silver trumpet they use tell the people each time wey Jehovah want make they move. (Nu 10:2, 5, 6) Special trumpet sound wey the volume de increase and reduce, de help the people know say time don reach to move. The first time wey this one happen, na on the ‘twenty of the second month for the second year [1512 B.C.E.],’ wey them come out from Egypt. When them de move, the ark of the covenant go dey front. The first three tribe wey be Judah, Issachar and Zebulun, go follow. Judah go dey front, Issachar go be next, and Zebulun go follow. Then the Levites from the family of Gershon and Merari go carry the parts of the tabernacle wey be their work to carry, and they go dey the back of the first three tribe. The next three tribe wey go follow, na Reuben, Simeon, and Gad. Reuben go dey front, Simeon go be next and Gad go follow. The next people wey go follow them, na the Levites from the family of Kohath, they go carry the holy things for the tabernacle. Then the next three tribes wey be Ephraim, Manasseh and Benjamin, go follow them. Ephraim go dey front, Manasseh go be next and Benjamin go follow. The last three tribe wey be Dan, Asher, and Naphtali, go dey their back. Dan go dey front, Asher go be next and Naphtali go follow. With this arrangement, the two group wey get power pass and wey plenty pass go de protect them for front and for back.—Nu 10:11-28.

w11 4/15 4-5

You De See Reason to Believe Say God De Lead Us Today?

How we fit show say we really like-am as Jehovah de direct e people? Apostle Paul talk say: “De obey people wey them de direct wuna. Do wetin they talk with all wuna heart.” (Heb. 13:17) This one fit no always dey easy. For example: Imagine say you dey among Israel people for the time of Moses. After wuna don waka for some time, the pillar of cloud stop, so wuna form camp. But how long wuna go stay there? Na one day? One week? Or plenty months? You no know! So you ask yourself say, ‘Make I bring all my things come out?’ You first bring out some of the things wey you need pass. But after some days, you don tire to scatter things as you de find other things wey you need, then you decide to bring everything come out and arrange them. But as you just de bring everything come out finish and start to arrange them, you see say the pillar of cloud start to go up—this one mean say you go arrange everything back again! This one no be easy thing to do at all. Even with all this one, Israel people must ‘comot from that place at once.’—Num. 9:17-22.

What about us? How we de behave when we receive direction from Jehovah organization? We de do wetin they tell us ‘at once’? Or we de continue to do things the way we de do-am before? We know the new directions from our organization on how to do things like, how to conduct Bible study, preach to people wey de speak another language, de always do family worship, work with Hospital Liaison Committee, and how to behave well for convention? We still de show say we really like as Jehovah de direct us, when we de take correction and advice. When we get serious decision to make, we no de do-am by ourself, but we de follow the advice from Jehovah and e organization. Just as small pikin de run go meet e papa and mama because of heavy thunder, na so we de run to Jehovah and e organization when we see problem wey be like heavy thunder.

Assembly

Why E Dey Important to Gather Together for Worship? Jehovah command Israel people make them de do the Passover every year. This one really help us see say e dey important make we de gather to worship Jehovah, so that we go gain from the things wey Jehovah de teach us. Any man wey dey clean for Jehovah eye, and wey no travel, but e no gree do the Passover, they must kill the man. (Nu 9:9-14) When King Hezekiah call all Israel people to Jerusalem for Passover, some of the things wey e tell them na: ‘Israel people, make wuna come back to Jehovah . . . make wuna no dey stubborn like wuna grandpapa them. Make wuna bring wunaself down for Jehovah and come e house wey e don make holy forever. Make wuna worship Jehovah wuna God, so that e go stop to vex for wuna. . . . Jehovah wuna God get good mind and e de show mercy, and e no go hide e self from wuna if wuna come back to-am.’ (2Ch 30:6-9) If person make up e mind say e no go attend the Passover and e no really go, e show say the person don leave Jehovah. Even if Christians no de do festivals like Passover, Paul still advice them say make them de always gather together to worship Jehovah. E talk say: “Make we de think about how we go help each other so that we go show love and do better work. Make we no de miss our meeting as some people de do, but make we de encourage ourself, especially as the day don de near.”—Heb 10:24, 25; go check CONGREGATION.

“Why E Really Bad to De Complain?”

w01 6/15 17 ¶20

You De Always Forget Wetin You Don Learn?

20 Many servants of Jehovah today no de ever do sex wey Jehovah hate. But, we need to dey careful so that we no go get the bad habit to de always complain, because that one go make Jehovah reject us. Apostle Paul warn us say: “Make we no try Jehovah as some of them do, only for snakes to kill them. Or de complain as some of them complain, only for the destroyer to kill them.” (1 Corinthians 10:9, 10) Israel people complain and talk bad about Moses and Aaron, sotey they even complain about Jehovah. They talk say the manna wey Jehovah give them na nonsense bread. (Numbers 16:41; 21:5) You think say na when Israel people do sex wey Jehovah hate, e vex for them pass when they complain? Bible help us know say Jehovah send snakes to bite people wey complain and because of this one many of them die. (Numbers 21:6) Before this time, more than 14,700 people don die because of this kind complain. (Numbers 16:49) So, make we respect all the things wey Jehovah don arrange, and make we no test e patience.

w06 7/15 15 ¶7

‘No De Complain’

7 Israel people really change! When Jehovah bring them come out from Egypt, and save them for the Red Sea, they really sing to praise Jehovah. (Exodus 15:1-21) After, they forget all the good things wey Jehovah do for them. Because things no too easy with them for wilderness and because of their fear for Canaan people, they no happy again with wetin Jehovah de give them. Instead make them de thank Jehovah as e free them from the hand of Egypt people, they blame Jehovah for the things wey they feel say they no get. This kind complain show say they no happy or value the things wey Jehovah de give them. Na e make Jehovah talk say: “Which time this wicked people go stop to complain and talk bad about me?”—Numbers 14:27; 21:5.

it-2 719 ¶4

Quarrel

To De Complain. Complain no de make person happy but e de make person weak. Small time after Israel people come out from Egypt, they complain about Jehovah. And they find fault with Moses and Aaron wey Jehovah de use lead the people. (Ex 16:2, 7) Later, because of their plenty complain, Moses even talk say e want die. (Nu 11:13-15) When person de always complain, e dey put e life for serious danger. When Israel people complain about Moses, Jehovah see-am like say na the way E de lead them, them de complain about. (Nu 14:26-30) And because of this one, plenty of them die.

“Faith De Make Us Get Strong Heart”

w06 10/1 16-17 ¶5-6

Their Faith and Fear of God Make Their Heart Strong

5 Out of the twelve spy wey Moses send go the land of Canaan, na only Joshua and Caleb really want enter the Promise Land. They tell the people say: ‘Make wuna no fear Canann people, we go fit win them. They no get anybody to protect them, but Jehovah dey with us.’ (Numbers 14:9) You think say na over-sabi de worry Joshua and Caleb? For where! Joshua and Caleb and other people for Israel see as Jehovah use the Ten Punishment deal with Egypt people and their gods. They still see how Jehovah kill Pharaoh and e army for Red Sea. (Psalm 136:15) So, the remaining ten spy and the people wey believe them, no get any reason why they fear. Jehovah show say wetin they do really pain-am, when e talk say: “Which time this people go stop to doubt me even with all the miracle wey I don do, wey they see with their eyes?”—Numbers 14:11.

6 Jehovah talk wetin the real problem be. Their fear-fear na sign say they no get faith. True-true, we need faith to get strong heart. Na e make when apostle John write about wetin don help the Christian congregation win their fight against this world, e talk say: ‘We don win this world because of our faith.’ (1 John 5:4) Today too, more than six million servants of Jehovah don show say they get the kind faith wey Joshua and Caleb get. And because of their faith, them de preach the good news of the Kingdom for everywhere for this world, whether they young, old, dey strong or dey weak. And no enemy don ever fit make them stop this preaching work.—Romans 8:31.

The Land Wey Jehovah Give Israel People

THE land wey Jehovah give Israel people na really good land. Before they enter the Promise Land, Moses send some men make they go spy the land. E still tell them to bring some of the fruits wey dey the land. So, the men bring figs, pomegranates, and one bunch of grape wey e big sotey two men use stick carry-am. Even though they fear and no gree go fight because they no get faith, they still talk good thing about the land. Jehovah De See You as E Friend?

12 But as them dey road to the Promise Land, Korah start de think say problem dey with the way Jehovah arrange things. So Korah try to change things, then 250 elders for Israel join-am. For their mind, their friendship with Jehovah still strong and Jehovah dey happy with wetin them de do. They tell Moses say: “Wuna own don too much! Everybody for here dey holy, and Jehovah dey with them.” (Num. 16:1-3) This na really over-sabi and proud way to do things! Moses tell them say: “Jehovah go choose the people wey be e own.” (Read Numbers 16:5.) Before the end of the next day, Korah and all the people wey support-am for this bad thing, don die.—Num. 16:31-35.

w11 9/15 27 ¶11

Jehovah De See You as E Friend?

11 Moses and Korah show say they really different for the way they show respect for Jehovah decision and arrangement. The way they behave really affect the way Jehovah see them. Korah na Levite from the family of Kohath. E fit don get the chance to see how Jehovah save Israel people for the Red Sea, or join kill the people wey worship the image for Mount Sinai. E fit still be say e join the people wey de carry the ark of the covenant that time. Make You Put the First Things First!

The case of the man wey gather fire wood for Sabbath day, really dey serious to Jehovah. Bible talk say, “Jehovah tell Moses say: ‘Wuna must kill the man.’” (Numbers 15:35) Why Jehovah really vex for wetin the man do?

The people get six days to gather fire wood, and do other things wey concern wetin they go chop, wear, and where them de stay. But they go use the seventh day, worship Jehovah. Even though no be bad thing to gather fire wood, na bad thing to use the time wey they suppose use worship Jehovah, gather fire wood. You De Show Say Jehovah Na Your Share?

9 Think about the Levites, they no receive any share of land for the Promise Land. Na the Levites dey front for the worship of Jehovah for Israel. Because of this one, they need to trust say Jehovah go take care of them. Jehovah even tell them say: ‘I be wuna share.’ (Num. 18:20) Even though we no de work for temple like the priests and Levites, we fit copy their example. Make we trust Jehovah say e go take care of us. The more things de bad because of the last days, the more we need to trust say Jehovah go take care of us.—Rev. 13:17.

w11 9/15 7 ¶4

Jehovah Na My Share

4 When Jehovah choose the Levites for e work, e tell them say: ‘I be wuna share.’ Wetin this one mean? E mean say Jehovah no go give them any land as their own, but e give them special work to do. To work as “priests,” go be their share from Jehovah. (Josh. 18:7) Other verse wey surround Numbers 18:20 show say this one no mean say they no go get the things wey they need. (Read Numbers 18:19, 21, 24.) ‘Because of the work wey the Levites de do, Israel people go divide everything wey they harvest and even their animals, into ten and give them one part.’ Then, the Levites go still give ten percent of wetin they receive, to support the priests. ‘Na the best’ they go give the priests. (Num. 18:25-29) Na the priests go still receive “all the holy contributions” wey the people of Israel de bring come the house of God. The priests really get good reason to believe say Jehovah go give them wetin they need to take care of theirself.

Try to Dey Humble and Make Jehovah Happy

19 We no go de increase our mistakes. Think about Moses again. For many years, e dey humble and e make Jehovah happy. Then, after Israel people don de waka for desert for almost 40 years, when the journey don almost end, Moses fail to dey humble. E sister, wey fit be the one wey help to save e life for Egypt, just die, and they do the burial for Kadesh. And now again, Israel people de claim say they no de care for them well. This time them “de quarrel with Moses” because water no dey. Even with all the plenty miracles wey Jehovah don use Moses do, and even as Moses no think about only e self for all the many years wey e lead them, the people still complain. They no only complain say water no dey. They complain about Moses, as if na Moses de make water hungry them.—Num. 20:1-5, 9-11.

w19.02 13 ¶20-21

Try to Dey Humble and Make Jehovah Happy

20 Moses vex well-well, and e no come dey gentle for heart again. Instead of Moses to talk to the rock as Jehovah command, e talk to the people anyhow because e de vex. And Moses talk say e go do the miracle for them by e self. Then, e nack the rock two times and plenty water come out. E make serious mistake because e come dey proud and e no control e temper. (Ps. 106:32, 33) Just for some time Moses no dey humble. Because of this one, God no allow Moses enter the Promise Land.—Num. 20:12.

21 We learn fine lessons from this example. Number one, we must always work hard to de think like humble people everytime. If we drop-am for some time, we fit start to dey proud. And this one fit make us talk and do things wey sense no dey. Number two, stress fit make-am no easy for us to dey humble and control our temper. So, we must try to dey humble, even when we face situation wey fit make-am hard for us.

Jehovah Na Judge Wey De Stand for the Correct Thing

One, Jehovah no tell Moses say make e talk to the people, how much more to judge them as people wey no de obey Jehovah. Number two, Moses and Aaron no honor Jehovah. Jehovah tell them say, ‘Wuna no honor me.’ (Verse 12) When Moses talk say, “we must make water come out,” e just be like say na their own power they want use, no be God own. Number three, the punishment wey Jehovah give Moses and Aaron, match the one wey E don give Israel people before. Just as Jehovah no allow the generation of Israel people wey no obey-am enter the Promise Land, na so e no allow Moses and Aaron enter the Promise Land. (Numbers 14:22, 23) Number four, na Moses and Aaron be leader for Israel people. This one show say Jehovah expect more from the people wey e de use direct e congregation.—Luke 12:48.

12 When Aaron do any of this things, Jehovah get the power to deal with-am at once, but E decide to leave-am. Why? Na because e see say Aaron no be bad person or say e open eye do-am. E be like say Aaron allow condition or other people, make-am do wetin no good. But when they tell-am say e don make mistake, e gree at once and support the judgment from Jehovah. Plenty times, this one fit make them comot from where them dey before, go new area or even prison. This one de help them see new people wey they go preach to. For example, for World War II, Jehovah people really preach when they put them for Nazi concentration camps. “One Person Fit Bring Blessing for Plenty People?”

lvs 118 ¶1-2

“No Do Sex Wey Jehovah Hate!”

WHEN fisherman want catch fish, e de first find the place wey e know say the kind fish wey e want go dey. E go select something wey go attract the fish and put-am for hook. Then e go throw the hook inside river, and wait until the fish chop wetin e put for the hook. Then e go draw the hook so that e go hook the fish for mouth and drag the fish come out.

2 The same thing fit still happen to people. They fit catch them the way them de catch fish. For example, when Israel people don near the Promise Land, they camp for the desert wey dey the Land of Moab. The king of Moab promise one man wey e name na Balaam plenty money if e help-am curse the people of Israel. Because wetin they plan no work, Balaam still find another way to make Israel people bring curse ontop theirself. E take e time choose wetin go attract them. E send young women from Moab make they go tempt the men for Israel.—Numbers 22:1-7; 31:15, 16; Revelation 2:14.

4 Why plenty men for Israel fall for this trap wey Balaam set? Na because them de think only about wetin their body want. They forget everything wey Jehovah don do for them. For example, na Jehovah free them as slave from Egypt, give them food for wilderness, and protect them until this time wey they don near the Promise Land. All this one suppose make them hold Jehovah tight. (Hebrews 3:12) But, they still fall when the women from Moab tempt them. Boundary

So, we fit talk say na two things they follow when they want share the land for the different-different tribe for Israel. The first one be say they throw lot. Then the second one na the number of people for each tribe. E fit be say when they throw lot, e help them decide which part of the land each tribe go get. This part fit be for North, South, East or West, or even area wey near water or wey mountain dey. Na Jehovah decide the result of the lot. So, this one make them no jealous each other or quarrel with each other because of how they share the land. (Pr 16:33) Jehovah still use this one make sure say everything wey Jacob talk about the tribes just before e die, happen as e dey for Genesis 49:1-33.

After they don throw lot to know the area wey each tribe go dey, the next thing na to decide how the land for each tribe go big reach. And na the number of people for each tribe go help them know the size of land wey the tribe go get. Numbers 33:54 talk say: “Wuna must throw lot to share the land as wuna property, tribe by tribe. The big tribe go get big portion of land, and the small tribe go get small portion of land. Anywhere wey the lot choose for them, na that part of land each tribe go get as their own.” They no ever change the area wey the lot don choose for any tribe, but they fit adjust the size of land wey the tribe get. Na e make when they see say the land wey the tribe of Judah get too big, they cut some part give tribe of Simeon.—Jos 19:9.
