19 Thus Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephʹrath, that is to say, Bethʹle·hem.+

19 Now it happened in those days that there was no king in Israel.+ And it came about that a certain Levite was residing for a time in the remotest parts of the mountainous region of Eʹphra·im.+ In time he took as his wife a concubine+ from Bethʹle·hem+ in Judah.

1 Now it came about in the days when the judges+ administered justice that a famine+ arose in the land, and a man proceeded to go from Bethʹle·hem+ in Judah to reside as an alien in the fields of Moʹab,+ he with his wife and his two sons.

2 “And you, O Bethʹle·hem* Ephʹra·thah,+ the one too little to get to be among the thousands of Judah,+ from you*+ there will come out to me the one who is to become ruler in Israel,+ whose origin* is from early times, from the days of time indefinite.+

2 After Jesus had been born in Bethʹle·hem+ of Ju·deʹa in the days of Herod+ the king, look! astrologers*+ from eastern parts came to Jerusalem,
