A dor emocional pode matar?
Alguns dizem que o grande sofrimento emocional a que Jesus Cristo foi submetido contribuiu para a sua morte. (Mateus 27:46; Lucas 22:44; Hebreus 5:7) Também, o fato de “sangue e água” terem fluído do ferimento de lança que Jesus sofreu logo após a sua morte pode ter sido resultado de uma ruptura no coração. Planta venenosa
A respeito do Messias, foi predito que lhe seria ministrada, como alimento, uma “planta venenosa”. “Lembrem-se do que aconteceu no passado”: por quê?
Infelizmente, os israelitas muitas vezes caíram no erro do esquecimento. Com que resultado? “Vez após vez punham Deus à prova e penavam ao próprio Santo de Israel. Não se lembraram da sua mão, do dia em que os remiu do adversário.” (Salmo 78:41, 42) Eles terminaram sendo rejeitados por Jeová por se esquecerem de Suas ordens. — Mateus 21:42, 43.
Um excelente exemplo foi dado pelo salmista que escreveu: “Lembrar-me-ei das práticas de Jah; pois, vou lembrar-me da tua maravilha de outrora. E meditarei certamente em toda a tua atividade e vou ocupar-me com as tuas ações.” (Salmo 77:11, 12) Meditando no serviço leal já prestado e nos atos de amor de Jeová, somos imbuídos do estímulo, do encorajamento e do apreço de que necessitamos. Além disso, quando nos ‘lembramos dos dias anteriores’, isso pode dissipar o cansaço e estimular-nos a fazer tudo o que podemos e a ser perseverantes e fiéis.

‘Mantenha-se livre de resmungos’
16Os resmungos direcionam a mente para nós mesmos e nossos problemas, colocando em segundo plano as bênçãos que temos como Testemunhas de Jeová. Para vencer uma tendência para se queixar é preciso lembrar-se sempre dessas bênçãos. Por exemplo, cada um de nós tem o privilégio maravilhoso de levar o nome de Jeová. (Isaías 43:10) Podemos cultivar uma estreita relação com ele e falar com o “Ouvinte de oração” a qualquer momento. (Salmo 65:2; Tiago 4:8) A nossa vida tem verdadeiro significado porque entendemos a questão da soberania universal e temos em mente que é nosso privilégio manter a integridade a Deus. (Provérbios 27:11) Podemos participar regularmente na pregação das boas novas do Reino. (Mateus 24:14) A fé no sacrifício de resgate de Jesus Cristo nos possibilita ter uma consciência limpa. (João 3:16) Temos essas bênçãos, independentemente do que precisamos suportar.

Jeová tem sentimentos?
O salmista diz: “Quantas vezes rebelavam-se contra ele no ermo!” (Versículo 40) O versículo seguinte acrescenta: “Vez após vez punham Deus à prova.” (Versículo 41) Note que o escritor descreve um ciclo de rebelião. E não demorou muito para essa atitude ruim surgir. Ela começou no deserto, logo depois que eles foram libertos do Egito. O povo começou a resmungar, questionando se Deus era capaz de cuidar deles e se estava disposto a fazer isso. (Números 14:1-4) Uma obra de referência para tradutores da Bíblia diz que as palavras “rebelavam-se contra ele” podem ser “traduzidas como ‘endureceram seu coração contra Deus’ ou ‘disseram “Não” a Deus.’” Mesmo assim, por misericórdia, Jeová perdoava seu povo quando demonstravam arrependimento. Mas depois eles voltavam a fazer as mesmas coisas e se rebelavam de novo, e esse ciclo continuava. — Salmo 78:10-19, 38.
Como Jeová se sentia cada vez que esse povo inconstante se rebelava? “Faziam-no sentir-se magoado”, diz o versículo 40. Outra tradução diz que eles o ‘entristeciam’. Uma obra de referência bíblica explica: “O significado aqui é que a conduta dos hebreus parecia ser de propósito para causar dor, assim como faz um filho desobediente e rebelde.” Da mesma forma que um filho indisciplinado causa muito sofrimento a seus pais, os israelitas rebeldes “penavam ao próprio Santo de Israel”. — Versículo 41.
