The Second Book of Samuel
2 After this one, David come ask Jehovah say: “Make I go up go stay for one of the cities wey dey Judah?” Jehovah tell-am say: “Go up.” Then David ask-am say: “Which place I go go?” E talk say: “Make you go Heb′ron.” 2 So David go* there with im two wife wey be A·hin′o·am wey come from Jez′re·el and Ab′i·gail wey be the widow of Na′bal wey come from Car′mel. 3 David still carry the men wey be dey with-am come, each of them with their family, and them start to live for the cities wey dey around Heb′ron. 4 Then the men of Judah come, and them anoint David as king for Judah people for there.
Them tell David say: “Na the men of Ja′besh-gil′e·ad bury Saul.” 5 So David send people go meet the men of Ja′besh-gil′e·ad and tell them say: “Make Jehovah bless una, because una show love wey no de fail to una lord Saul as una bury-am. 6 Make Jehovah show una love wey no de fail and make e no ever leave una. Me too go treat una well because of this thing wey una don do. 7 So now, make una dey strong, and make una get strong heart, because una lord Saul don die, and Judah people don anoint me as their king.”
8 But Ab′ner the son of Ner, wey be the chief of Saul army, don carry Ish-bo′sheth wey be Saul son cross the river and bring-am come Ma·ha·na′im, 9 and e make-am king to rule Gil′e·ad people, Ash′ur·ite people, Jez′re·el people, E′phra·im people, Benjamin people, and all Israel people. 10 Ish-bo′sheth wey be Saul pikin dey 40 years when e start to rule for Israel, and e rule for two years, but na David Judah people support. 11 The time* wey David rule Judah people as king for Heb′ron na seven years and six months.
12 After some time, Ab′ner wey be the son of Ner and the servants of Ish-bo′sheth wey be the son of Saul comot from Ma·ha·na′im go Gib′e·on. 13 Jo′ab wey be the son of Ze·ru′iah and the servants of David still comot from where them dey, and the two group meet for the pool of Gib′e·on. One group sitdown for one side of the pool and the other group sitdown for the other side of the pool. 14 At last, Ab′ner come tell Jo′ab say: “Make the young men stand up and fight* for our front.” Jo′ab answer-am say: “Make them stand up.” 15 So them stand up and the two groups choose men wey go cross go fight. Them choose 12 people for Benjamin and Ish-bo′sheth wey be the son of Saul, and 12 people from the servants of David. 16 Them hold each other for head, and each of them chuk im sword for the side of the person wey e de fight with, and all of them die together. So them call that place wey dey for Gib′e·on, Hel′kath-haz·zu′rim.
17 The fight wey them fight that day after this one really serious no be small, and the servants of David win Ab′ner and the men of Israel. 18 The three sons of Ze·ru′iah wey be Jo′ab, A·bish′ai, and As′a·hel be dey there, and As′a·hel sabi run fast like antelope wey dey for bush. 19 As′a·hel pursue Ab′ner, and as e de pursue Ab′ner, e no gree turn go right or go left. 20 When Ab′ner look im back, e ask say: “As′a·hel, na you?” E answer say: “Yes, na me.” 21 Then Ab′ner tell-am say: “Turn go your right side or go your left side, and catch one of the young men. Take anything wey you collect from im hand for yourself.” But As′a·hel no want stop to pursue Ab′ner. 22 So Ab′ner tell As′a·hel again say: “No pursue me again. You want make I kill you? Which face I go take look your brother Jo′ab?” 23 But e no gree stop, so Ab′ner use the handle of the spear chuk As′a·hel for belle, and the spear come out from As′a·hel back, then e fall for ground and die for there. Everybody wey reach the place wey As′a·hel fall and die, go stop for there small de look-am.
24 Na so Jo′ab and A·bish′ai pursue Ab′ner. As sun de go down, them reach the hill of Am′mah, wey face Gi′ah for the road wey them de pass go the wilderness of Gib′e·on. 25 Benjamin people gather for there for Ab′ner back, and them form one group and stand ontop one hill. 26 Ab′ner raise im voice call Jo′ab and tell-am say: “Na so we go just continue to kill ourself de go with sword? You no know say the only thing wey this one go cause na serious problem? Na which time you go tell the people to go back and stop to pursue their brothers?” 27 So Jo′ab tell-am say: “As the true God dey alive, if to say you no talk, na until tomorrow morning before them go stop to pursue their brothers.” 28 Jo′ab come blow the horn, and im men stop to pursue the men of Israel, and them stop to fight.
29 Then Ab′ner and im men waka for the whole night, pass the Ar′a·bah, cross River Jordan, and still pass the whole lowland.* At last, them reach Ma·ha·na′im. 30 After Jo′ab don stop to pursue Ab′ner, e gather all the people together. Among the servants of David, na As′a·hel and 19 people die. 31 But the servants of David don win Benjamin people and the men of Ab′ner, and na 360 of their men die. 32 Them carry As′a·hel and bury-am for im papa grave wey dey for Beth′le·hem. Then Jo′ab and im men waka the whole night, and them reach Heb′ron for morning.
